Chapter 14 Every time Mason pulled up to Justin’s father’s house, she was struck by how impressive it was. On the hill, it was grand, as if dropped into this western landscape of browns and blue sky. She now knew it was close to four thousand square feet, with rooms she’d never seen, and every part of the house and ground was meticulously cared for. Expensive, rich, impressive, and she’d never considered what all of this meant. Until now. She closed the door of her pickup, her stomach rumbling from the breakfast she’d skipped as she started up the stone steps. How many were there? Twenty.
