Chapter 7 The house Emmett and Scarlett shared was a two-story walkup located just at the edge of downtown Denver, a few blocks from Rhee’s school. It wasn’t anything spectacular, just a small two-bedroom with a galley kitchen, a tiny living room, and a loft Rhee, Emmett’s son, took over anytime he was over—like today! As Scarlett finished zipping up her bag, which was filled with clothes for a day or two, ready for the drive back to her parents’ ranch, she could hear father and son and the sound of one of their ridiculous guns-blasting and tires-screeching video games.
