Episode 7:Dont go yet

1051 Words
Morning light slipped softly through the curtains. For the first time in days— She woke up without the heavy weight in her head. No fever. No dizziness. Just… warmth. — She blinked slowly. “…I feel better.” Her voice was still soft—but stronger. Alive again. — Then she realized something. Her hand— Was holding onto something. No— Someone. — Her fingers were wrapped lightly around his sleeve. Again. Just like yesterday. Except this time— She was fully awake. — Her eyes widened. *Why am I holding him again?!* Slowly—very slowly— She loosened her grip. Careful not to wake him. Because— He was still there. Sitting beside her bed. Head slightly tilted. Asleep. — Her chest tightened. “…You stayed…” She hadn’t expected that. Not really. She thought maybe he’d leave once she fell asleep. Go about his day. Be normal. Be distant again. But no— He stayed. The whole time. — She stared at him for a moment longer than she should have. Taking in the quiet. The calm. The unfamiliar softness in his expression when he wasn’t teasing her. “…You look nicer when you’re not talking,” she whispered. “…I heard that.” She froze. His eyes opened slowly. “…You’re awake.” “…Y-You were pretending?!” “No.” “…Then why did you answer immediately?!” “I wake up fast.” “…That’s suspicious.” “…You’re holding me again.” Silence. She looked down. Her hand— Still on his sleeve. — She pulled away instantly. “I wasn’t!” “You were.” “I was just—checking if you were there!” “…By grabbing my arm?” “…Yes.” A pause. Then— “…You’re clingy when you’re sick.” “I’m not clingy!” “You’re still holding me.” “…I just let go!” “After I said it.” “…That doesn’t count!” He almost smiled. — She turned away, hiding her face. “…I said thank you already.” “You did.” “…So you can go now.” “…You want me to go?” She paused. “…I didn’t say that.” “…You just did.” “…That’s not what I meant!” “Then what did you mean?” She struggled. Because suddenly— The room felt too quiet again. And she didn’t like it. — “…You can stay,” she muttered. “…What?” “I said—you can stay if you want!” “…You’re inviting me now?” “I’m just being polite!” “Right.” “…Stop sounding like that.” “Like what?” “Like you know something.” “I do know something.” “…What?” “You don’t want me to leave.” Her heart skipped. “…That’s not true.” “…Then say ‘go.’” Silence. She opened her mouth— Then closed it. Because she couldn’t. — “…Exactly,” he said softly. “…You’re annoying.” “…You’re obvious.” She huffed, pulling the blanket over her face. “…I just got better and you’re already stressing me out.” “Then I’ll leave.” He stood up. Just like that. — And suddenly— The room felt empty again. Too fast. Too soon. — Before she could stop herself— “…Wait.” He paused. Slowly turning back. “…What?” She hesitated. Her fingers gripping the blanket slightly. “…Just—stay a little longer.” A quiet beat. “…You said you wanted me to go.” “I changed my mind.” “…That fast?” “…Yes.” He looked at her for a moment. Then— Sat back down. — “…You’re really clingy,” he muttered. “…I’m not.” “…You asked me to stay.” “…Because you’ll just bother me again if you leave!” “…That’s your reason?” “…Yes!” “…Liar.” — But this time— He didn’t push further. Didn’t tease too much. Just stayed. Like she asked. — Minutes passed. Quiet. Peaceful. — Then— Without thinking— She shifted closer. Just a little. Barely noticeable. But enough that— Their shoulders almost touched. — He noticed. Of course he did. “…You’re doing it again.” “…Doing what?” “…Moving closer.” “I’m not!” “…You just did.” “…The bed is small!” “It wasn’t small yesterday.” “…Stop analyzing everything!” “…Stop being obvious.” — She crossed her arms. “…You’re the worst.” “…And you’re still next to me.” “…Because you’re not moving!” “I can move.” “Then move!” “…You move.” “…No!” “…Then stay.” Silence. — She didn’t move. Neither did he. — A few seconds later— She sighed softly. Then— Carefully— She leaned her head back against the wall. But her shoulder— Lightly— Touched his. — Neither of them spoke. But neither of them moved away either. — “…Just until I feel completely better,” she whispered. “…Right.” “…Don’t overthink it.” “I won’t.” “…And don’t tease me.” “I’ll try.” “…Try harder.” “…No promises.” — She let out a quiet breath. Closing her eyes. — And this time— When she relaxed— She didn’t pull away. — And he didn’t either. — Because somehow— This quiet closeness— Felt natural now. — Dangerously natural. — “…Hey,” she murmured softly. “…What?” “…Thank you.” A small pause. Then— “…I know.” She opened one eye. “…That’s it?” “…You already said it.” “…Still.” “…Then don’t get sick again.” She smiled faintly. “…No promises.” — And as the morning light filled the room— They stayed like that. Close. Quiet. Comfortable. — Neither of them saying it out loud. But both of them knowing— This wasn’t just temporary anymore. — And that made everything a little more real.
