The afternoon sun sat high over the open field just outside of the city limits, far enough from the MC’s usual stomping grounds that the scent of grease, booze, and asphalt had been replaced by grilled meat and freshly cut grass. The bikes were all lined up in a neat row behind the small cabin they’d rented for the day, chrome glinting under the sunlight like the teeth of wolves resting in the grass. The smell of barbecue smoke was everywhere, thick and mouth-watering, curling around the group as Killer flipped burgers over a grill big enough to roast a hog.
