Chapter 6 - Offer

I was so happy that I forgot to ask what kind of job it was, but any job that the son of the scholarship provider found for me must be good. Whatever the job, it would surely be better than what my friend and I would have to find on our own.
Because this isn't Thailand, finding a job while studying is difficult. If I tell my friends that Khun Plerng, the scholarship owner's son, kindly found us jobs, they would be very happy.
"You seem very happy to have gotten the job."
"Yes, I didn't think I would get a job this quickly. ^_^"
"What kind of work are you good at?" Mr. Plerng asked in a cold voice. Every time he spoke, it sent shivers down my spine.
"I can do any job, and so can my friend."
"But this job, I'm only interested in you."
His words made me fall silent. If my friend found out that I got the job alone, would they be upset? It feels like I'm being selfish somehow.
"Do you want your friend to get a job?"
"Uh... yes."
"In that case, I'll arrange for your friend to work at the hotel, and you can work with me."
"Huh, you want me to work with you, Mr. Plerng?"
"Yes."
"What kind of job is it?" I asked nervously. His calm demeanor was starting to make me feel tense again.
Khun Plerng got up from his chair and walked over to me. He stopped behind the chair I was sitting in and placed both hands on my shoulders before speaking very close to my ear.
"A job that doesn't require physical effort or skills, just... talent."
"What kind of talent?" I asked, confused once again. The more he spoke, the less I understood what kind of job he was offering.
"You'll find out about the job later. Let's discuss the salary first, shall we?"
"Uh... okay."
"How much do you want?"
"I don't dare to ask for money. It's better to let you decide," I said humbly. As an employee, I didn't dare to ask my employer for money.
"I'll give you a hundred thousand a month. Is that not enough?"
"A hundred thousand!" My eyes widened. This was even better than winning the first prize in the lottery, and he even asked if it wasn't enough. For me, it was more than enough.
"Your younger brother is about to graduate. I'll fund his education until he finishes his bachelor's degree if you impress me with your work."
"Really? Mr. Plerng, you'll fund my brother's education too?" Overjoyed, I turned to face Mr. Plerng, not realizing how close our faces were. Startled, I quickly pulled back.
"Sorry, I wasn't paying attention."
"If you're interested in my offer, you can start working in two days," Mr. Plerng stood up to his full height, his sharp gaze fixed on my face, making me feel shy.
"I'm really interested. I promise to impress you with my work ^_^"
"Tomorrow, I'll send you the contract to sign."
"A contract?"
"An employment contract."
"I see," I nodded in understanding. It's normal for employers and employees to sign a written contract.
POV: Plerng
I watched the woman who was so thrilled about getting the job that she was practically ecstatic. She was too naive for me to take advantage of her right now, even though I really wanted to.
But gradually luring her in was more fun, tricking her into a trap she couldn't escape from. When that day comes, I'll finish her off completely.
"Tomorrow, my friend will also have a private meal with you, right?"
Her question is so naive. She really has no idea that besides her, I haven't invited her friend to have a private meal like this.
"If I'm free, I'll arrange another meeting with your friend," I replied dismissively.
"And where will you have me work, Mr. Plerng?"
"In my bedroom."
"To clean the room?" she asked innocently.
I let out a heavy sigh, starting to get annoyed by all the questions. If it were any other woman, I wouldn't have to explain much, but with this one, her endless curiosity and naivety were getting on my nerves.
"S-sorry for asking too much," Aey apologized.
"You're done here, you can leave now. Someone will be waiting to take you to the hotel."
"Okay, okay."
She nodded several times before quickly getting up from the chair and opening the door to leave the room.
