No Regrets

Chapter 2

Liam felt the first rays of sun hit his face from the window. He had made his way towards San Diego bus stop and had gotten on a bus to LA at 5am in the morning. Getting on the bus he had decided that he would be stepping into a new life and he would leave back everything. Yet he couldn’t bring it in himself to leave his feelings for Chloe behind. For some reason in a part of his mind he believed that Chloe had been correct.

He had always been ready to do anything for her always getting into arguments with her in hopes that she would notice him but she had always went to Alex. Liam hated Alex but he hated him more than anything for the reason that he was cheating on Chloe and was just using her but Chloe had been too blindsided to Alex to notice this.

He had tried several times to make Chloe see the truth but she was a stubborn mule who would not even believe her own mom and dad . Liam was wondering what did Alex have in store for her when she would take over the company but would be like a fly trapped in Alex’s web.

Liam felt hot tears run down his cheeks as he imagined the hurt faces of his friend and the people who had allowed him to call them his mom and dad. He imagined the jubilation on Chloe’s face as she would have finally seen him gone.

After a couple of hours he reached LA and after getting of at the bus stop he began to make his way towards his uncle’s home. Liam and Leah’s uncle was the owner of one of ‘K SOFTWARE’ one of the leading companies in America.

Liam slowly makes his way towards the house that his uncle owned. With each passing step he could feel doubt increasing in him. Questions about what would Leah think of him , how would she react began to fill his mind. For a second contemplated turning around and leaving to somewhere else but then he thought about how Chloe had called him pathetic and a wimp.

Liam steeled his resolve as he made his way towards the house and took a couple of breaths to calm himself and knocked on the door. It was 8 am and the air was filled with the chirping of the birds and He could vaguely hear a man’s voice shout “Coming” from inside.

Liam’s heart raced as his uncle opened the door and his breath hitched as he saw Liam standing there. He took 2 big strides and hugged the boy standing in front of him. Liam hesitated for a moment but then reciprocated the hug. It had been about 2 years since he last saw his uncle and he was happy to see him.

Pulling himself from the hug Liam turned to his uncle who motioned him to come inside. His uncle took the other bag that he had with him as they entered the house and he lay his luggage down in the living room.

He could hear voices from the kitchen as he made his way to it he could see Leah’s back facing him while his aunt sat opposite to her facing him. Her mouth fell open In shock stopping her midsentence.

Leah looked at her aunt after she stopped midsentence to see her staring behind her, her mouth open in shock. She looked behind her and blinked twice to see her brother standing there.

Leah immediately got up from her chair and took big strides towards him before throwing herself at her brother who was not expecting it and stumbled back a bit but managed to right his position and held Leah.

Liam had not expected this reaction from her as she held onto him for dear life letting out tears in his sweatshirt. Liam had expected her to shout at him to throw things at him to slap him but Leah didn’t do any of those. She just clung onto him before she pulled back a little for him too see into her chocolate brown eyes.

Suddenly he felt a stinging sensation on his cheek as he comprehended what had happened in a flicker of a moment.

“Why didn’t you ever talk to me or come visit me?” Leah asked him. Liam could only see happiness in her eyes.

“You are not angry at me?” Liam asked her and he felt a smack on his head and winced rubbing the spot where Leah hit him before she hugged him.

“I can never be upset with you.” Leah said and for the first time Liam felt truly at home.

His eyes watered as he pulled her into a hug.

After Leah pulled back their aunt came over and pulled him into a hug.

Liam turned to see his uncle entering the kitchen and smiled at him.

“Liam have breakfast with us.” Jake said to him and Liam took the unoccupied place beside Leah and told them what had happened in the past years that they had been apart.

After breakfast Liam tapped Jake’s should and said “A word please.”

Jake nodded and motioned him over to the living room .

Uncle J I have been wondering if you would allow me to help you out at the office so I could learn something about running a company for the future maybe.

His uncle looked at him with an amused expression before saying , “Of course . You are more than welcome to help me out. It would be great if you learn about it right now as it is you have to continue as the family business head. Get ready we will leave in 15 minutes.”

Liam looked at him gratefully before scampering of to find some clothes from his bags. He took a quick shower and decided to wear one of the few black coats he had over a blue shirt with black pants.

He quickly made his way to the living room to see Leah standing there a hurt look on her face.

“Are you leaving me again?” she asked on the verge of tears.

“I will never leave you ever again I promise.”Liam said and hugged her before joining his uncle and Leaving with him to the company building.
