Chapter 8: Escape PlanLord Owen spends more time with her over the next few days, appearing at her door first thing in the morning to accompany her to the kitchen where they have breakfast together. When she asks him why he isn't having breakfast with the rest of the royal family, he shrugs and says he's not welcomed.
It is jarring, how much he changes from the boisterous, cocky alpha outside of the castle into this insecure man. Somehow, she knows that this insecurity is just a mask he wears, something that lets him do what he wants in the castle that is meant for his older brother. The less people see him as a threat, the more freedom he has.
