Eleven – SHE KNEW ALL ALONG! Brandon called out to the guards; he could see the temper of the Alpha King rising. If there was anyone in the King's residence who knew him better, Brandon was the one. “Guards!!!!” Alpha King Steven yelled out in rage. Immediately, the door creaked open as two men in plain white T-shirts and black pants ran into the council room, their feet pounding heavily against the tiled floor with determination. “Take her away!” His voice was etched with dread and disdain. The guards abruptly grabbed Freya by the arms. She struggled intently to break free from their grip, but her attempt was weak. The guards hands holding onto her were firm like a huge clamp pinning her. “Your Grace, please spare me!” Freya cried out, her heart clenched with terror. “I'm innocent, Your Grace. I have never used dark magic in my entire life!” she cried out, her voice slowly becoming faint as the guards dragged her towards the door. “You are making a big mistake, my King! I hope you don't regret it!” Freya screamed at the top of her voice as the door closed in her face. Dread curled up her spine as the moment of her last breath flashed before her eyes. Without another word, Alpha King Steven strode out of the room. His expression was dark and tinged with fury. No one dares to utter a single word. The room was drenched with terrifying silence. Madison clicked her tongue as the door shut closed, shaking her head frantically in disappointment. ‘Oh, Freya! If only you hadn't tried to betray me,’ she muttered under her breath, slowly walking away as her heels clicked against the tiles in a smooth rhythm, her hands crossed over her chest. ‘I'm sure she was the one controlling Wizard Archie,’ Iry enunciated, creeping out from his hiding spot in the depths of Brandon's subconscious mind. ‘But how could she have done it? She wasn't discovered,’ Brandon asked inwardly, speaking to his spirit wolf. ‘The only dark magic I can think of is the one that those with the strongest heart's desires can control with its power,’ Iry said to him. “Strong desires?” Brandon asked, confused, trying to wrap his mind around what Madison's desires could be. “Oh my God!” Alpha Levi screamed out, realizing that the tension had left the room. “We need to leave for our pack. We have been here for quite a long time,” Alpha Wayne snapped, gulping down the glass of whisky and abruptly dropped it back on the table. In a glance he had reached for the door, with Alpha Levi following suit behind him. Brandon quickly ran out of the council room, his eyes scanning the hallway as he searched for Madison. “She couldn't have possibly disappeared so fast?” Brandon questioned. “I think she went that way,” Iry uttered. Immediately, Brandon took off, his feet striking the tiles as fast as he could. Briskly, he caught up with her and abruptly pulled her around to face him, pressing her firmly against the wall with one hand as his breath brushed against her face. His gaze bore into her eyes, searching them and penetrating deep into her soul, trying to find answers to the question that had been weighing on his mind since the accusation began in the council room. “What?” Madison asked, cutting him off from his trance. “Anyone who sees us like this might think we are lovers,” Madison cooed in a seductive voice, her eyes narrowing in a tempting manner. “I don't care what they think!” Brandon blurted coldly. “Are you sure?” “Enough of the questions! I want to know why you are doing this, Mady?” Brandon asked, searching her face for answers. “Doing what exactly?” Madison feigned a confused look. “Don't play games with me, Madison!” he raged. “I asked, what exactly?” she sneered, her voice unwelcoming as she refused to budge under his intimidating aura. “You dare pretend?” Brandon's eyes furrowed with fury as he tightened his grip on her shoulder. “Dare!” Madison snapped, not flinching from the dreadful pain that throbbed in her shoulder as Brandon's fingers tightened around it. “Brandon, I seriously don't know what you are talking about,” Madison uttered. “Perhaps you could calm down and explain so I can understand,” Madison asked softly, lowering her voice. “Is there something you were expecting from me?” she asked, bringing her face closer to his, with a sly, barely visible smile creeping across her lips. Brandon sucked in a sharp breath, calming the throbbing rage that boiled inside him. “It's fine,” he said, slowly releasing his grip from her shoulder. “You can leave,” Brandon said to her, swiftly stepping out of her way. ‘You are letting her go!’ Iry thundered from within Brandon's mind. “We can't find out what she is up to right now. No matter what I say, she will pretend not to know,” Brandon said to Iry, trying to make him understand his reasoning. Madison scoffed. “I was going to leave even if you didn't ask me to, but I will pretend this never happened.” She walked away, her steps echoing through the long hallway. She could feel Brandon's gaze drilling a hole into her back. “If it wasn't for that stupid maid of mine, you wouldn't be standing here again,” she gritted angrily through her teeth, fury knitted across her brows. AT THE CREEPY DUNGEON OF THE KING'S RESIDENCE Freya's face instantly boiled with fury as her gaze fell on Madison, who stood outside the dungeon. “Lady Madison!” one of the guards quickly greeted upon seeing her. “I want to see her,” Madison snapped in an authoritative yet calm tone. “But Lady Madison, the Alpha King said no one is allowed to see her,” the second guard protested. Madison darted a dark look at him. “Are you saying I can't see the maid who has served me for years?” she asked in a hoarse voice. “No, my Lady, we are only—” “I just need to talk to my precious maid before she dies. Is that too much to ask?” Madison asked, gently using her thumb to wipe away the fake tears rolling down her cheeks. “You can go in, my Lady, but it has to be brief,” the first guard warned sternly. “Thank you!” Madison blurted as the guards left their posts. Madison raised her hand to cover her nose as the stench of rats and the damp, dusty air stung her nostrils. “Oh my! This place is so filthy and dirty, but very fitting for a betrayal like you! Don't you think so?” she snorted as she walked into the dungeon and stopped in front of Freya's cell. Freya immediately thrust her hands through the gaps between the bars, trying to reach Madison. She lunged forward, attempting to grab Madison by the head and slam it against the bars of the cell. But Madison quickly dodged the attack, instantly catching on to Freya's intention. “You really think you were smart?” Madison asked, her face creased with an unfriendly, icy look. “I would save myself the stress of trying to catch me because you can't catch me, Freya,” Madison chuckled lightly. “You tried to play the smart one. What did you intend to win by betraying me like that?” Madison asked. “A gold medal?” “Look around you, Freya! Look where your little smartness has landed you. Behind the bars!” Her voice was marred with disgust and aggravation. “You framed me to save yourself!” Freya yelled with fury, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Oh yes, I did, Kathy's sister,” Madison blurted, with a light chuckle escaping her lips as she watched the sharp shock creep across Freya's face. “How... How did you know?” Freya's face twisted with bewilderment.
