Ten – OH LITTLE FREYA!
“Have you gone nuts?” Madison raged angrily, breathing heavily.
Brandon gently got to his feet, swiftly taking a step back, his brows flushed with amusement. “Interesting!” he muttered under his breath.
‘Well, Iry, it seems her drama is backfiring on her,’ he said, connecting his mind to his spirit wolf, who uttered no response but a deep growl.
“Wizard Archie doesn't even know what he is doing right now. Madison has invaded his mind with dark magic to get him to play her dirty games, Your Grace,” Freya asserted, her words weighing on whether they were worth believing.
‘I will make sure to expose you, Madison. Today marks the end of your evil plans, and I will have my revenge on you for all these years of pain,’ Freya squealed angrily in her mind.
Alpha King Steven massaged his temples, his head and thoughts throbbing with the unfolding, uncertain issue before him.
“Are you sure about what you are saying, Freya?” Madison asked in a cunning, triumphant voice.
“Are you sure that I'm the one controlling the mind of Wizard Archie here?” she asked again, covering the distance in elegant steps, with a sly smirk evident on her face.
“You are the only one capable of answering that question more than anyone else here in this room,” Freya replied, unfazed by her intimidating demeanor.
Her brow arched with confusion as her eyes caught Madison's gaze glued to her hands. Slowly, she looked down to see the strange thing that had caught Madison's attention. But her eyes almost fell out of their sockets.
“What is this?” Freya screamed in shock as a dark, rumbling cloud with glittering lightning surrounded her hand. She flipped her hand, trying to shake off the ominous dark cloud that had appeared from nowhere, as a blast of sharp, life-threatening lightning was released into the air from her hand, aiming at the Alpha King.
“Your Grace!” Madison shouted, running to save him, but Alpha King Steven's reflexes were sharp. He quickly dodged the blast before it could hit him, as Madison crashed onto the floor in an attempt to save him from being struck.
Madison bit her lips, her face flushed with shame as she realized what had happened. She quickly stood back on her feet, tugging her hair behind her ear and straightening her face with a warm, creepy smile.
“Your Grace, are you okay?” Brandon asked, worry etched on his face.
“Yes,” Alpha King Steven replied, raising his hand with a nod.
The Fangors immediately sneaked out from under the table where they had sought refuge from the thundering dark magic blast. Their hearts almost jumped out of their throats from the throbbing fear of losing their lives.
If there was anything they clearly remembered after the abolishment of dark sorcery in Silvermoon, it was the terrifying reality of dark magic. Once the power unleashed was not of good, the chances of you dying once hit were ninety-nine percent.
That was an inevitable condition.
Alpha Levi berated himself for calling an urgent meeting today of all days. His sinking heart was praying intently to return home in full without harm.
If there were a jiji who granted wishes to turn back the hands of time, he would certainly be the first to make a grand request.
“I'm not the one, my King! She is the one controlling it! Please, you have to believe me,” Freya screamed, her voice tinted with fear.
“Everyone here, Freya,” Madison sneered, “every single person you see in this room is seeing the monster you are.” Madison pointed at the wall the blast had hit, with smoke oozing out from it.
“You know that's a lie!” Freya yelled, cold creeping into her heart.
‘I had perfect plans, Freya, but you chose to destroy them for me by betraying me. I will make you pay for it,’ Madison lashed out angrily in her mind, clenching her fist in rage.
“My King, I take back my words earlier. Wizard Archie is not in his right mind. Freya is the real dark sorceress here,” she snapped.
“What the hell is going on here?” Alpha Steven raged, frustration etched on his face.
This mess was the reason why he had cancelled the learning of dark magic. Once it was in the hands of the wrong person, the damage was far beyond recovery.
Madison trembled as the ire that marred Alpha King Steven's voice reached her. “My King, I was scared that she would kill me if I confronted her. I saw her invade the mind of Wizard Archie,” Madison spat, her lies seeming to be true.
“She wants to destroy you, my King,” Madison blurted.
“Enough of this madness!” Alpha King Steven yelled, his voice shaking the walls of the council room. A tiny tremor crept through the walls.
Dread heaved through the atmosphere. Everyone could hear the throbbing heartbeat of one another in the room.
Alpha King Steven walked over to Freya, whose face contorted with fear and aggravation. Her heart was marred with terror at what her fate would be.
Madison smirked for a while, but quickly brushed it off. ‘Oh, Little Freya!’ she squealed inwardly.
“My King, Wizard Archie is innocent, Brandon is also innocent, Freya is the culprit, my King,” Madison blurted, casting more gasoline onto the burning flames.
“I said shut up!” Alpha King Steven yelled, gazing at her with a dreadfully icy look that sent shivers of terror down her spine. Her hands instantly went cold from his gravelly gaze.
“So you orchestrated all of this?” Alpha King Steven asked, as though he was trying to buy time to know if another hidden revelation was about to unfold.
“It's Madison, Your Grace. I am not controlling any dark magic,” Freya said, hoping that Alpha King Steven would sense the hint of truth that curled in her utterances.
“Please spare my life!” she pleaded, falling to her knees.
Brandon stared at Madison as though he was trying to see beyond her soul. Actually, he was. The only thing his eyes could glimpse was the dark aura that hung around her soul, swallowing her up.
He quickly shook his head, blinking his eyes.
Alpha Steven reached for Freya's cheeks, his grip firm, creating a hole in her cheeks with his fingers as Freya flinched in pain.
His eyes tinged with horror. “There is no mercy for lawbreakers! No mercy for dark magic sorceresses like you,” he blurted coldly.
“You won't be the first I start with,” he sneered, releasing his hand from her face.
“Take her away for execution!” Alpha King Steven commanded.
“Guards!” Beta Brandon quickly called out.
