Chapter 2

Oh no they spotted the cave, they’re coming over, what do I do?

“It’s ok just do as I say, use the sight I gave you to go further into the cave be quick but quiet” I do as Celestia says and move further into the cave, “just up on the right there’s a boulder, behind it there’s a gap in the rocks where you can hide” when I get to the boulder I go round it and slip into the gap. It’s a very tight space but being so small I manage to squeeze in. As I’m standing there I hear the footsteps coming through the cave and Lucian calls out “Come on misfit we know you’re hiding in here, we will find you” “ The longer it takes the worse your punishment will be, you will never be free of us” adds LJ. I hear them walk past me then stop, “come on it’s too dark in here anyway, let’s go” I hear Lucian say then they start to walk back out of the cave.

I stay where I am listening to their footsteps getting further away and when I can’t hear them anymore and am sure their gone I slip out from the gap but decide to stay behind the boulder until morning incase they come back.

In the morning I can hear the birds singing and make my way out of the cave. As I step outside everything is bathed in sunlight and it’s so beautiful, the trees look so full and green and there are wild flowers everywhere. I close my eyes and enjoy the feel of the sun on my face for a moment then take a deep breath in and start walking.

I had been walking for hours when I heard the sound of water, I head in the direction the sound is coming from and find a stream. I run to the stream and drop to my knees beside it, the water looks beautiful and clear and I immediately lean forward and start drinking it. It tastes amazing and feels cool as it runs down my throat. Once I have finished drinking I splash the water over my face, neck and arms to freshen up then adjust my position and slowly put my sore and dirty feet in the water, it stings a little at first but I start to gently wipe the dirt off and check the cuts.

I lay there by the stream for a little while to let my feet dry then get up and start walking again, I decide to follow the stream and see where it leads, after a while as darkness is starting to set in I get to a waterfall at the end of the stream, I take another drink from the stream then decide to just keep walking wishing I had something I could fill with water.

2 days later

I have been walking for days now, no food and no water since the stream, I am exhausted and everything hurts but I have to keep going, I need to find somewhere safe and something to eat.

I keep walking and then start to hear a noise I started to cautiously walk towards the noise to see what it was and come across a clearing in the woods, there was a few cars there and people standing around. I hid behind a tree and observed, wondering if these people would help me but too scared to find out. I could see a couple of women but mostly men, they were all tall and well built men, I wondered if they were werewolves?, “yes they are and I am sure they would help us lets go and speak to them” no I can’t! How can you be sure? They’re probably just the same, I have to get out of here before they find me.

I start to panic, my heart racing, my breathing heavy, hands shaking and my whole body trembling, I stand up looking around trying to figure out which direction to go, needing to get out of there. I start to move and a twig snaps under my feet, I freeze then hear a voice say what was that? I look round and realise they are all looking this way and starting to head over, I go to move but the panic takes over, my heart racing faster, my breathing getting heavier’ everything starts spinning then just darkness.

Theo’s POV

We are just about to set up camp for the night when my wolf Jett starts getting excited, he has picked up on a scent nearby that is pretty alluring, I take a good sniff of the air and close me eyes in a moment of ecstasy, sweet jasmine and honeysuckle. I am disturbed by a noise to my right where my Beta, Gamma and a few pack warriors are gathered, I look over and they are all heading towards the woods. Beta Kyle mind links me that they heard something moving in the woods and are going to check it out, “Not something, someone, mate” Jett tells me, I quickly catch up to the others, tell Kyle and Gamma Louis to come with me and order the warriors to stay with the vehicles.

As soon as we enter the woods I head in the direction of the scent and it doesn’t take long to find her lay face down on the ground. I rush over and kneel beside her.

She is wearing jogging bottoms and t-shirt that are dirty, well worn and obviously too big for her, her long brunette hair is dirty and matted and her feet are bare, filthy and covered in cuts and blisters. I carefully turn her over and can feel how underweight she is then I see her face it is covered in dirt but still the most beautiful face I have ever seen.

Jett is pacing and growling in my mind, angry at the condition our mate is in and we are both questioning what has happened to her and who is responsible for this.

I turn to Kyle and Louis and tell them to get back to the vehicles and prepare to leave immediately. Then I gently pick her up and hold her to my chest, I am saddened by how light she is, she barely weighs more than a child.

I carry her to my car and lay her on the back seat then get into the driver’s seat, Kyle gets into the passenger seat and we set off with everyone else following in their cars.

Once on the road Kyle asks me what’s going on and I tell him she is my mate, he looks round at her in shock and I say to him as soon as we get back to the pack we need to find out more about her, what’s her name?, where did she come from?, who did this to her? And mind link the pack doctor tell him to get a room ready and have the best staff available. “Yes, right away alpha”.

It’s a 3 hour drive to the pack lands but I put my foot down at every opportunity determined to get her to the doctor as quickly as possible.

We make it back in 2 hours and I pull up outside the hospital, pick her up and run inside, doctor Harland is waiting, as soon as he sees us he says “this way Alpha”.

I follow him into a private room and lay her on the bed, senior nurse Martha ushers me out to the corridor and says “wait here alpha we will update you as soon as we have assessed her condition”.
