Chapter Fourteen

Ace was shocked the night he slept with Rose, waking up to find out she walked out on him instead of the other way around. That was one of the many things about her that had her embedded in his thoughts. She became something he craved. He reminisced on the day he arrived at the shooting range to meet his brother and father and found Rose there too, she peaked his interest more when he saw her handle a gun, in fact he found it arousing to watch. Considering how they met it was a surprise to him. Then on top of the unofficial military training thanks to her father, she stuck out against every other girl he knew. “When will they be back exactly?” Scott asks, disappointed he missed his only child by a hair’s breadth. Dana told the men the date Rose and Drew were to return. She felt for the men, truly she did, they were all distraught in a matter of seconds, their hope and excitement when they first came through the door thrown to the side upon hearing the new information. “She has an appointment the following day, she won’t miss it” she says hoping it would give them something to look forward too. “Can I get you something to eat whilst you’re here?” she offers. They nod and take some menus before heading to a booth in the corner of the café, all of them carrying sad faces. * Rose was having so much fun, she didn’t want it to end. Walks along the beach, swimming in the sea, even going to a carnival that was in town to touring the countryside. On this trip, Rose forgot about the stress of the past and the fear she had for her baby, even Drew forgetting life back home and getting chance to be himself for once. The second week Rose and Drew spent a lot of time in the hotel spa, and she never felt so relaxed, massages to using the jacuzzi, they decided to use their last day at the spa before flying home. “Rose” Drew calls out as he walks out of the bathroom into the living room in nothing but a towel, if he weren’t gay Rose with her pregnancy hormones would be jumping his bones right now. “Yeah?” she calls out as she flicks through the channels of the television, “What are we doing tomorrow?” he asks as he uses another towel to hand dry his hair. Rose shrugs her shoulders “I don’t know, we’ve packed up the first week of adventure, second of relaxation with me being pregnant and all, so it’s up to you I guess”. Drew’s eyes light up at the thought “Clubbing?” he asks hopefully and Rose laughs, Rose knew he was dying to go out, she didn’t mind, so long as she could rest throughout the day and avoided the drink she saw no problem. “Yeah, we can go clubbing at night I guess” Rose chimes out. Drew fist pumps the air and does a little dance almost loosing the towel around his waist. As it was already the evening Rose and Drew went to their rooms to change. Rose put on some black skinny jeans; it was too hot for a skirt, not that she liked wearing skirts, if she did her thighs always rubbed together. Black matching underwear and a light grey crop top sporting the holed look, that revelled the small bump she carried. Curling her hair which looked amazing with blue in her hair. Drew and Rose had a spontaneous moment the other day and decided to get matching blue dyed tips on their hair, it stood out against the blonde and black hair they had. Rose settled on converse as she didn’t want to risk herself or her baby in case she tripped. “Drew you ready yet?” Rose called as she put on minimal makeup, she knew it would drip off her in the heat of the weather and club. “Yeah, I’m coming, don’t get your panties in a twist” Drew calls out. He knew the word ‘panties’ would have Rose cringing with hate. Ever since she was a child, Rose would scrunch her face up and slap her hands to her ears to block out the word even though it had already been said. A further five-minute wait and Drew emerged from his room, Rose tossed her hands in the air and sighed “halleluiah” she calls out dramatically. Drew rolled his eyes at his friend’s dramatics. “Come on, lets go and get you laid by a hottie” Rose calls out as she walks to the door of the hotel. They link arms as they head down the elevator and out the building. They didn’t have to call a cab as the night life was all around them and the decent clubs were only around the corner from the hotel, as they walked the pair dabbled in small talk “What are you going to do when the baby is born?” Drew asks. Rose frowns slightly, she had often thought about this scenario, she wanted to be with her father when it happened and “I wanted to be at home when the baby was born, have my dad there to help me, but…” suddenly feeling guilty for leaving the way she did. Drew saw the sadness on Rose’s face, and it made him feel better about what he did sending the video, he just hoped when they returned, Rose wouldn’t kill him when she finds out. “You’ll get through it” Drew says. Rose looks up at him and smiles “We” she replies. He looks at her with a raised brow making her chuckle, “I’m not doing this alone, wherever you go I go, you’re stuck with me now” she muses. Drew smiles, a genuine smile, she cared for him, and he cared for her. Drew was glad to finally have someone in his corner. The hand that Drew had free form holding onto Rose reached up and brushed a fallen strand of hair from her face. “I will follow you anywhere” he whispers. When they got to the club, Drew began to walk to the back of the line that wrapped around the corner. Rose grabbed his arm, looking back at Rose he was confused, they couldn’t cut in line, but that was exactly what Rose was going to do. Walking up to the bouncer, he looks at Rose with confusion, he was going to tell her to wait at the back of the line. Until she pulled the collar of her shirt revealing the mark and recognition fell onto his face. Unhooking the rope, he allows Rose and Drew through, the entire line calls out in annoyance. Drew pulled her shirt and looked at her neck and saw a tattoo “He had the same one, security, bouncers alike have a triskelion and military dog tags mixed together it tells one another who they are, and it gets you into a lot of places” Rose tells him. They push through the crowd and stop in front of the bar “I want one” Drew says thinking of all the places he could get into with that mark. Rose shakes her head “No tattoo artist will do this tattoo unless you have been trained for the job” she says. “How come you have it?”. “My dad was in the army and my uncle had the security company, last year my dad took me to get it from the guy that did all the team, he knew I was trained, plus my dad knew if I had that mark and ever got into trouble, I could use the mark and password to get to a safe place until I could get back to my father”. The bartender came over to take their drink orders cutting the conversation, despite Drew wanting to know more. “Can I get an orange juice and ice, a row of tequila shots and rum and coke” Rose asks. A minute later the bartender puts the drinks in front of Rose and Drew. She reached into her pocket to pay, the barman holds up a hand “This round is on us” he says and then leaves. She smiles grateful and takes a sip of her juice, how she wished she could drink with Drew. She nudges Drew towards his shots, and he smiles, downing them all and then sipping on his coke and rum. They look out to the dancefloor, people were grinding against one another, jumping up and down to the music. Groups of guys and girls obviously here on holiday, some paired up either couples on holiday or met here for a good time. When they finished their drinks, Drew took Rose’s hand and pulled her through the dancing crowd, he takes a hold of her hips and they sway together with the music, closing her eyes she wraps her arms around Drew’s neck and allows her body to get lost in the sounds blasting through her ears. Drew’s hands slip from around Rose’s he had found a guy to occupy his time with and Rose didn’t mind at all, she was happy he was having fun. As she swayed to the music a large pair of hands rest on her hips, he invited himself over, Rose looks to see a cute guy dancing with her, but she had no interest in him, she was pregnant and pining after Ace. Putting her own hands on his, she gently takes them off her and steps away from the guy continuing for another ten songs before she feels her feet aching. With a protective hand on her stomach Rose walked back to the bar and ordered another juice, she went to pay but again the bartender denied her and pointed to the VIP lounge above the club. A man leaning on the rails looked down at Rose with a soft smile, she saw there was no lust or want in his eyes, only care and that had Rose confused. What made things odder was the fact that he looked familiar. Like she had seen him before. Was it out in the town, perhaps someone from the hotel they were staying at? It was difficult to tell with little lighting in the place. She sends a smile his way and raises her glass in appreciation for the payment of drink. Then took a sip, placing her other hand on her stomach she looks down and smiles giving her tiny bump a small rub, that small gesture had her son sending a kick as a response. The man in the VIP lounge looked at Rose with shock, he found it odd that she was ordering non-alcoholic drinks, but it now made sense, she was pregnant and his smile grew back onto his face. Rose looked for Drew, it took a while because he was merged in with a bunch of guys on the dancefloor. She smiled seeing the carefree look on his face, he wasn’t thinking about home and that made Rose happy. Four orange juice later and Drew steps beside her with one of the guys he was with beside him “Having fun?” Rose questions with a knowing smirk. If it weren’t for the darkness of the club everyone would see him blushing, he nods his head. Again, Rose never paid for the drinks, even the one they got for Drew’s friend whose name was Andre. Rose looked Andre from his feet to his hair, she wanted to applaud her friend on catching such a specimen, but that would only make her look crazy. The friends learned that Andre was twenty-one and a business owner, one that his father handed down to him a year ago. This was the first time since taking over that he was able to have some time to himself. Rose never would have thought him to be gay, it might sound offensive but, in all honesty, Rose was good at finding out the unique people in the bunch, one of them being Drew, but it was a dark room full of smelly sweaty people. Drew went back to dancing with Andre a little while longer. By three in the morning Rose took Drew back to the hotel with Andre. The pair were drunk and singing at the top of their lungs in the street, hanging off one another as they stumbled about the place. The lyrics they were shouting out made no sense at all, but Rose wasn’t about to correct them it would only start a whole other problem than she was having right now. It was fortunate that the hotel was empty of people when they walked in, only a few workers who looked at Drew and Andre with annoyance at their loudness. Drew acted as though he hadn’t been in the hotel before and the pair admired the place like kids in a candy store. It was impossible to get them into the elevator for ten minutes whilst they ran around the place. Rose sent the guys to Drew’s room to sleep the alcohol off. Closing the door, she sighs then lets out a yawn. Time for bed she thought as she wandered into her room. She thought the moment her head hit the pillow she would be out like a light. Then she heard it, after changing and slipping under the covers Rose was sure the entire floor and the one below heard them too. Nothing like loud drunk s*x to regret in the morning, but Rose wasn’t about to interrupt the two, then a little laugh came out of her tired lips, surprised that they had the ability to hold themselves or the other up with how drunk they were. An hour Rose tossed and turned in her bed until the noises ceased and Rose snorted before drifting to sleep.
