CHAPTER EIGHT A storm brought in a new day. Black clouds loomed as torrential rains washed over the city. Forks of purple lightning streaked across the sky, and booms of thunder shook windows and set off car alarms. The lengthy warm weather had changed suddenly, bringing weather of Biblical proportions. Water filled the streets, and storm drains choked on the water overflow. Traffic was at a minimum. It was a Sunday, so most people stayed home. Most people, but not Alison Kline.
