CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Dinner had finished with coffee. The waiter had insisted they should try the brandy, but Steel had to decline, to his disappointment. The night sky was clear, and the cloudless heavens displayed a vast sky with a blanket of stars and a full moon, which painted everything with a blue tint. The three left the restaurant and headed for the Gate.
‘A beautiful night for a stroll, isn’t it?’ Steel asked as they stepped out into the chilly night air. He looked over at Kitty, who was beginning to shiver. He took off his jacket and placed it on her shoulders.
Kitty looked at Steel and smiled gently.
‘Nice night, my ass,’ Simms complained. ‘I’m freezing my butt off.’
