"f**k that's good," I groaned, letting the hot water cascade over my body, standing under the spray until I resembled a giant prune.
I forced myself to turn off the water and step out, wrapping a towel around my waist, careful to avoid my ribs, which were just beginning to heal properly. The scars? Emotional damage? That would never go away. At night, I would wake up gasping for air, working my way out of a nightmare that felt so real that I could feel the pain, hear the sound of my cries, and even smell the disgusting mould in the air of the old boarding school.
