#2 The Beginning

"Ah! Ah!" the girl screamed as Lucian pounded at her from the back. He had a devilish smirk on his handsome face. The human girl was the best f**k he had till now. He met her at the casino. She was beautiful, and he had all the money in the world. It was a perfect fit for one night. They gambled, drank their heart, listened to some shabby stories of each other that they won't remember after waking up, and then they were here - in a hotel room. "Lucian! It is the best night ever!" the girl screamed at the top of her lungs. It satisfied Lucian as he increased his speed a little more. He was going to show her the stars. Even if they won't remember a thing about each other when he leaves after a good night's f**k, he was going to make sure she remembers his name and how good he had made her feel. "I think I am already in love with you, baby! Please make me yours!" The girl screamed, making Lucian scowl. Why do they all fall for his handsome face, tall height, great stamina, and sturdy built? He didn't even have to work up a lot to have those. None of them said they liked him when he talked about his nonsensical life or cracked not-so-funny jokes. Plus, how can he just make anyone his! They weren't his mates. Nor were they able to waver his heart even a little. Lucian's mood got spoiled from that single sentence. The effect of alcohol was already so little on him. It had worn out completely from her delusional statement. Lucian hissed. There was no way he could keep on doing that. He withdrew, picking up his clothes. The girl was already exhausted from having s*x multiple times. After all, Lucian had beastly stamina. So when he withdrew, it didn't matter to her much, even though she whined a little before she dozed off on the bed. Lucian took a hot bath, getting rid of her essence from him. She can ever be the one who can have his heart. The only reason she was with him was because of his looks and money. Everything else was a bonus to her. As the hot water ran through his body from head to toe, he remembered his time in the moonlit city. They had to go through a lot, really a lot, before they had some stability around them. His best friend, Rafael, kept his promise when he took over the responsibility of the head of the association of the moonlit city alphas. Also, because Rafael and Elsa agreed to take care of the Silverlit pack in his absence, he could finally get out to see the world. And he landed in Las Vegas! Elsa, whom he considered as his sister, had high hopes for him while he left. She had shopped a lot of trendy clothes and accessories for him to stay in fashion and enjoy his time out. She even planned the entire itinerary for him, including his stay and his bike. Everything had worked out in his favor, except for finding his love. Lucian wore his clothes and looked outside the big glass window of the room. The city had so much energy that it never went to sleep. He looked at the sleeping girl, who was oblivious that he was an alpha wolf. Lucian sneaked out of the hotel room in the middle of the night. He needed to stop by someplace and have some booze before returning to his presidential suite in a star hotel. Lucian paid for the room they had used for the night before leaving. He informed them that they should wake up the girl before the checkout time. He strolled through the streets since he had not brought his bike. It was funny how no one was bothered about him, nor did they recognize him. In a way, he liked the liberty the human world offered without ranks and responsibilities they had to bear as wolves. It was liberating for him since he had to spend all his life training, fighting, reading, strategizing, or in an office room. Lucian finally stopped by a small bar that wasn't as fancy as others. But it had a homely vibe to it. It wasn't too bright or too dark like most of the places he had been. When Lucian opened the door and entered inside, a man in his early fifties greeted him with a wide modest smile. He couldn't ignore his warm attitude. So Lucian returned the man's smile with one of his own. The man asked him if he was alone or not. Upon realizing that Lucian was here for late-night booze, the man guided him to the bar counter. It was not again very fancy like the ones had head frequented over the past month. He could tell that it was handmade. It was intricately crafted and worked with love that gave it a unique and refreshing look. "What do you want to have?" A girl in her mid-twenties asked. Even though she had no make-up on her face and looked like a tomboy wearing baggy clothes in the city of Las Vegas, Lucian could tell she wasn't that bad. In fact, if observed closely, she had a refreshing natural beauty that didn't need any help from artificial products or sequined clothes. She was tall and probably had a nice figure. "If you have stopped checking me out, do you want to place an order, sir?" The girl said, snapping him out. Lucian looked at her in shock and then avoided her questioning gaze, rubbing the back of his head. His awkward behavior made the girl confused. He wasn't the first one checking her out. But he was definitely the first one who was reacting that way. The others would pass sleazy comments or ask her out. But he was trying to be a gentleman in Las Vegas. She could tell from all those s*x hormones he was oozing out despite the bath that he was definitely not a saint. So, it confused her why he was pretending to be one. "I will have a vodka cranberry and put as many ice cubes as you can. Thanks!" Lucian placed an order, pretending to look for something urgent on his phone. He was trying to avoid the girl. She was still looking at him with her big, round eyes. She purposefully made the order with lots of noise, making it quite evitable for Lucian to know that she was not in any mood to let it pass without at least an apology. The man who had greeted Lucian with a humble smile glared at the girl. But she rolled her eyes at him, making him leave instead. Lucian had initially thought that he was the owner. Now, he suspected if this young girl really owned this bar. With her scary attitude, it must be tough to have recurring customers. He was planning to leave after one glass. "Here is your order, SIR," The girl banged the glass as some of the liquid spilled. But she had no intention to clean it or make a new one. The girl kept on glaring at him with a dangerous smile. But that was such a creepy one that it made Lucian's insides quiver. He couldn't understand how a lean girl like her could make an alpha like him shudder. Humans were surely fascinating! Lucian gulped down the cocktail in one go. He looked up to ask for the bill, willing to leave this place as soon as possible. He hoped he never had to cross his paths with her ever again. She was scarier than Wicca and Anthony and combined. It was then that he heard some kind of argument coming from the nearby table. It was her! A group of men and a completely wasted girl. And it was her - fuming and arguing with the men! He looked at them, unable to leave. The more he stayed around her, the more he was getting trapped. But maybe it was fate. Lucian scoffed, annoyed when he moved with his wolf's speed to stop the man standing next to the girl from slapping her. He wasn't sure he was all charged up because a man was about to hit a girl or because he was getting involved in her affairs. She seemed to be handling it well. But Lucian was no longer the subject of interest for her. Her anger escalated when she realized that they were about to get physical. "Who are you?" The man, whom Lucian had stopped from hitting the bar girl, seethed. But one twist from Lucian, his bones started to break when he screamed for help. It was then the other men got stimulated, ready for a challenge. They dropped the wasted girl to a nearby sofa and got warmed up for a fight. Lucian scoffed, annoyed that these humans were looking for a fight with him. One punch! One single punch should be enough for all of them, even if he restrains most of his energy. But before Lucian could throw that punch, a hand flew right before his eyes and landed on the face of the man whose hand Lucian was holding. Blood spurted out of his face, specks of blood falling on Lucian's shirt, staining it. And then a tooth fell from his mouth! The rest of the men shook their heads in disbelief. How could a thin girl like her throw such a powerful punch? Most of them were contemplating making a move when two of them charged towards the girl. But the dodged them swiftly, following with an impressive action of her, kicking on on his face and punching the other's rib bones. Lucian gaped in awe. She was really fascinating. The men ran towards the exit while the girl followed them without any fear. They were about to escape when a sheriff opened the door with a thud. It hit one of the men, making him stumble, falling to the floor. "Someone reported that a few men were trying to molest a drunk girl." He said in a loud voice, looking at those men with a ruthless gaze. "You can arrest them and take that girl over there to somewhere safe. We have other customers." The girl responded, returning to the bar counter as if nothing had happened. The sudden change in her personality amused Lucian. He was unable to process if this girl impressed or surprised him. The police officer arrested the men despite their vain attempts to tell him that the bar girl had attacked them. He returned after sending the assaulters to check on the unconscious girl. He called someone after checking her ID and then walked towards the bar counter. Lucian was already on his third round by now. So much for leaving early! "Maddy! You shouldn't have done that!" The police officer leaned on the bar counter and spoke. He looked at Lucian and mouthed thanks. Lucian raised his glass in response, listening to their conversation using his hearing abilities. "It is Madelyn!" The girl ignored the part she wasn't bothered about to answer. "That is not how you speak with your elder brother, Maddy!" The older man came to the table to talk with them. He, too, mouthed a thank you to Lucian, who again raised his glasses as a gesture, smiling awkwardly. "Pops, ask your son to be on time next time if he doesn't want me to throw punches." Maddy, Madelyn, whatever she preferred to get called, frowned. "That anger will not take you anywhere, Maddy. I am only concerned about you." The police officer guy tried to reason with her. But she was too pissed to take the advice. "Zack, we will talk about this tomorrow. Both of you get back to work." The older man ordered. Both of them sighed but followed it anyway. Lucian was already on his tenth round when Madelyn walked over to him with the eleventh glass. She was suspicious and curious about his alcohol intake by now. He had never seen someone hold their alcohol so well. Lucian looked as fresh as he had when he had walked through the doors. Madelyn placed the glass carefully this time. She leaned over the table and sniffed. Lucian furrowed his brows, curious to find out what she was doing. It was something wolves would do at times, but her? "You are strange. Despite taking a shower with some aromatic bath gel and nice shampoo and drinking so much alcohol, you still reek of s*x! How many times did you two do it? I shouldn't ask you, but you have stayed enough for me to ask it out of curiosity!" Madelyn raised her eyebrows several times, smiling a little inquisitively. Lucian swallowed hard. He sniffed his shirt. Indeed, there was a lingering smell of s*x on him. But it was so faint that a human nose shouldn't be able to detect it. He blinked his eyes too often, unable to fathom who this girl was. Now that he delved, she had more strength than an average girl of her weight and age should have. Lucian looked around to see the older man. The older man was having a hard time even carrying a plate full of plates. So, he mostly sat on the billing counter. The elder brother had a tough time when he had to support that unconscious girl. She was smaller than Madelyn. Lucian was certain that the men she addressed as her father and her brother were both humans. So who was she? "Who are you?" Lucian implored. She looked at him with confusion, taken aback by the sudden question. Lucian looked into Madelyn's warm brown eyes for the first time. And his heart fluttered.
