It was very late, but the three ladies of the house couldn't retire to bed like they usually did. They stood at the entryway with new clothes on and made sure that not a thing was out of place, with themselves, or the house. There was much to consider, after all, they had a guest to entertain.
"Come in, dear," said Jenifer as she and her two daughters made way for the older man to enter. He scratched the gray hair on his chin as he nodded in approval of their home.
"I'm honored to be here," he said, turning to them once more. "Sorry to bother you for letting me stay here for the night and for keeping you ladies up so late. Why it's..." He stole a glance at the silver watch on his large wrist. Mary eyed it with interest. "Exactly past midnight!"
