Chapter 75

Desiree’s POV

My Luna ceremony is in four days and both my moms are still in a coma. My dad and step-dad have not left their sides. The swelling has decreased on my mom’s brain and her condition was changed to stable yesterday. That was a relief. I have been spending time with Warren since he was here. We have gotten to know each other and I really like him. It took the pack a couple of days to get used to having him and Cora here, but now that they have gotten to know them, most are comfortable with him. Cora and Zach marked and mated, and I am so happy for them both. He has also had no more nightmares since my visit to his dreams. Bright Moon and Sharp Claw packs are coming tomorrow so we can spend time together before the ceremony. I can’t wait to see Evie and Evelyn again. Claudia and Kane are also coming tomorrow for the ceremony. They are bringing Gemma; she is one of my stepsisters. Her mother, like mine, was assaulted by our dad. Her mom was an omega that worked in the kitchen of the packhouse. We met when I stopped there to see Kane and Claudia a few months ago. We have been having weekly conversations since then. Of all the siblings there, she was open to getting to know each other. She is twenty and finishing her degree in finance. She is a smart girl and helps Kane with the pack budget, along with investments.

Now that the issue of Alpha Teddy has been addressed, I need to decide what to do with the prisoners. I still have Leonne, Edith and Edwina in the cells. The rogue was killed that same day. Laura, the salesclerk from the dress shop, came to our pack after the attack. She met her mate in one of our warriors and has officially moved here. We have also discussed different options for the Eclipsed Moon Pack and are conferring with the Elder Council about the best course of action. I am leaning towards Cole becoming Alpha. I am in my office doing some pack work. I am trying to get as much done now, because with guests coming and the ceremony on Saturday, I doubt I will have time to do much after today.

“Luna, it’s Dr Hall, come to the hospital quick, your mother woke up” he links me

“On my way” I respond

“Anthony, Antoine. Dr Hall said my mom woke up. I’m on my way to the hospital” I link them

“We will meet you there once we finish this call with the shareholders” Antoine says

I portal to the pack hospital and scare a couple of nurses. After I apologize and we laugh about it. I am told Renatta woke up. I run to her room; Warren and Dr Hall are helping her sit up a little. She still seems dazed

“Mama Nat. Are you okay?” I say running and hugging her

“I’m okay Desi. A little disoriented and sore. Why am I in the hospital?”

“Do you remember going dress shopping with Desi, Renatta?” Warren asks

“Yes, but it’s blank after that”

“We were attacked Mama Nat. They were trying to kidnap me. They blew holes in the building and when it went off you and Mom got hurt. You have been in a coma for three days. Mom is still in a coma, but she is stable now” I explain

“Who tried to kidnap you? Who hurt Mary?” she says upset

“Don’t worry, we took care of it. You just get stronger; my ceremony is in four days. I’ll let Cora know you are awake” I say leaving her room with a hug

I texted my sister and tell her mom woke up. I stopped in to see my other mom and dad. She looks better but still not awake.

“Desi, I am sorry to bother you with your mom just coming out of coma, but I need you in the office” Antoine links me

“That doesn’t sound good Antoine” I say

“More bullshit. I am sorry Desi. The Dash family is here” he says

I called my cousins to let them know about mom. I walked over to the packhouse taking my time. Stopping to talk to a few pack members along the way. One of our warriors just had a baby and I stop to check on them to see if they needed anything. I am not going to let these uninvited guests stop me from doing my duties. I walk into the office about twenty minutes after Antoine linked me. I see Brigette and her dad. Her mom didn’t come. Alpha Trevor and Luna Belinda are also there

“It’s about time” Alpha Kirk says

“I’m sorry Alpha Kirk, did we have an appointment? Is this an emergency?” I question

“No, but we were here waiting for you” he replied

“You came to our pack unannounced. The law says we must oblige, but it does not tell me to stop everything I am doing to accommodate. My family and pack members come first. It is not unreasonable for you to wait twenty minutes when you didn’t even provide us with the courtesy to call ahead” I say

“Now Alpha Kirk how can we help you?” Anthony asks

“We have an issue with this ceremony. A verbal agreement was made between our families when you were young that Brigette would be your mate. I am here to honor that agreement” he says

“Kirk, what are you talking about? We never made an agreement verbal or otherwise, that the boys would be with Brigette” Alpha Trevor said

“We would always talk about how it would be wonderful if they were mates, since our families were so close” he replied

“That is not an agreement. That is a passing comment, nothing more” Luna Belinda says

“If that was the agreement, and you recognized it as such why did you wait until now to say something?” Anthony asks

“I was out of the country until recently”, Brigette says flirting

“We turned eighteen over four years ago. If you were supposed to be our mate, you should have come to us then, so a bond could be established, and then we would not have been looking for our fated mate. You didn’t. Now we have found her and there’s nothing else to discuss” Antoine says

“So, because I was out of the country. You are going to go back on an agreement our families have had for over 21 years” she whines

“No, because there was no agreement. Your father has no proof of an agreement and the verbal comments do not constitute an agreement. So, there is nothing for us to honor. This conversation is over” Antoine says

“I am supposed to be your Luna” Brigette stands and screams

“Why do you want to be our Luna?” Anthony asks

“Excuse me?” Brigette says

“Why would you want to be our Luna” he repeats

“Because I am an Alpha’s daughter and have been trained to be a Luna. I was made for this role”

“So, it has nothing to do with us?” Antoine asks

“Well, young Alpha, you guys have been friends for years. We feel you all would be compatible also” Alpha Kirk says

“We have not seen you in over ten years, you know nothing about us as men or as Alpha’s. We never dated, had a conversation or anything. So, this is not about us, this is about being Luna to Crescent Lake, as one of the largest packs in the US, nothing more. You just want the title” Antoine surmises

“I am better for you than she is” Brigette yells

“You mean, you feel you will be a better Luna than Desiree. She is our fated mate; there is no one better for us than she is” Antoine says

“And why would you be better than our mate for us” Anthony asks

“I am an Alpha’s daughter. I have been trained to be a Luna. I have a wolf which she doesn’t. I can run a pack” she says

“Well, Desiree is also an Alpha’s daughter. She has been trained by our mother to be Luna. She has a wolf, who probably at this point wants to snap your neck. She has already established a relationship with the pack. She knows us; our strengths, weaknesses, the good and the bad. She’s kind, faithful and loyal not only to the pack but to us. She was specially made for us by the Moon Goddess. So again, why would you be better than her?”

The father and daughter now just look at each other, trying to figure out what to do. We can tell they are mindlinking

“I wish to inv……” Brigette starts to say and I cut her off

“Before you invoke a formal challenge. I want you to know you would be the third person to do so, and I’m still here. Think this through because you have even less of a claim on them than those other girls did” I say

“Kirk, you need to rethink this. This whole plan is ridiculous. Even if we made comments when the kids were younger, that does not hold up as an agreement. We have not been close in over ten years. Don’t put your daughter in that situation. She will get hurt” Alpha Trevor says

“Are you trying to say my daughter stands no chance of winning a formal challenge? She has been trained since she was 14. That mutt over there just learned she was a wolf and has just started training the past couple of months” he growls out

Growls come from all the men in the room.

“Yes Kirk, I am saying your daughter stands no chance of winning a challenge against Desiree. Take my advice as a friend and drop this” Alpha Trevor says

“And you watch who you are calling a mutt. And where did you get your information from? Who Desi is and why she is here is not common knowledge” Anthony asks

“We heard it from another Alpha” Brigette admits

“So, Alpha Teddy Turner told you about me. Did he give you all this information and convince you that since they are my second chance mates it should be easy to take them from me” I say

Brigette stares at me wide eyed knowing I was 100% correct about Alpha Teddy

“Listen, I have a lot to do for the ceremony and there’s a lot going on right now. I don’t have time to waste on either of you. Brigette, if you wish to invoke a formal challenge, let’s hurry this along. But I would really think it through because it will not be easy. Also, we are marked and mated, so you technically can’t challenge me for them, thus you can’t take the Luna position. Now if you want to make a point and receive a good ass whipping, I am willing to comply” I say

Nothing is said by anyone

“Okay, no comment either way. GREAT!” I say

“So, this whole thing was a f*****g waste of time. Thirsty ass bitches” I whisper, but I know everyone hears me

“I would like to thank you for coming early and not making me deal with this s**t on my ceremony date. The next time you want to cause trouble you might want to get your information from someone other than a dead man” I say,

I get up, kiss my mates and walk out
