Tess didn’t know, or care, how long it took, but eventually, she opened her eyes. She was still wrapped around Sebastian, his strength holding them both upright, though he leaned into her, pressing her between the door and his body. She shifted and felt a tremor, unsure if it came from her or Sebastian. His head was next to hers, his forehead resting on the cold metal of the door, his breath slowing, like hers. Forcing her fingers to relax, she winced at the crescent shapes her fingernails had left in his skin. She pressed her lips to his neck, feathered her fingers through his hair. When he didn’t respond, she tugged gently on the thick black strands. “Sebastian?” He made a sound somewhere between a grunt and a groan.
