Neveah's POV
Killian froze on the spot, he looked stunned. I glanced up at him, and I could see he was having a hard time processing what I had just said. His face twisted, and his brows furrowed up together.
“What nonsense are you saying? You want a divorce? How can you say something as stupid as that?” He scoffed, “Is this another ploy to seek my attention. But guess what? You are not going to get it, I will not give you that satisfaction.” He continued but didn't give any response to his words.
“No man wants you. If you think you are going to get through with this and get together with another man, then you are nothing but a joker. No man wants to be with a woman who lost a baby.” Killian said, trying hard to get a reaction from me.
“I didn't think you were this manipulative, Neveah. First, you use the pregnancy to emotionally manipulate me, and now you want to use the divorce to get sympathy. How far can you go?” Killian asked me, and I burst into laughter.
“So you knew I had a miscarriage yet you didn't come to the hospital to check up on me. Killian, that was our child that we lost because of you, yet you have the guts to stand in front of me and say things like this.” I said to him, and his eyes flickered, “Just what did I mean to you, Killian?”
For a minute there, I rendered him speechless. He looked up at him and stared at me in silence.
“You want to hear the truth? Fine. You are nothing to me, Neveah. Lucy and Nathan are my real family. You were nothing but a substitute to Lucy. Have you forgotten you were only married to me because Lucy went away?” Killian retorted.
“Now that she's back, I no longer need you, but only Lucy and Nathan. You are the one who needs me and can't live without me. So don't you dare overpride yourself and pretend to be important.” Killian yelled at me, and I shook my head.
I felt numb and shattered deep within me as I realised there was nothing left to save from this farce I call a marriage. I didn't bother exchanging words and arguing with him. I just walked away to the room. I pushed the door open, and my eyes caught sight of my necklace at the corner of the floor.
I picked up the necklace and placed it on the dressing table. I began to pack all my things in boxes.
I heard a knock on the door and I opened the door. One of the maids came into my room with my food in a tray. I noticed the loud music coming from the sitting room and wondered what's happening.
“What's going on there?” I asked the maid.
“Ma'am Lucy is throwing a party.” The maid replied, and I nodded my head.
“I see… She must be happy to finally get what she wants. Don't disturb me, you can leave now.” I muttered under my breath. The maid left the room, and I tossed the food away. I don't feel like eating anything, I still have a lot of packing to do.
As I was packing, I came across a picture of me and Nathah while he was still a baby. Silent tears escaped my eyes as I remembered how loving and sweet Killian was towards me.
We were such a happy family, but now it seems as though that life never existed. I sniffed back the tears and returned the picture. I picked up the necklace and safely kept it away. Though it was broken, it still means a lot to me. I packed the remaining stuff belonging to me and sat down on the bed, staring at everything.
I woke up at dawn and rushed to take my bath. I made sure to be quiet as I didn't want anyone noticing I was up. Since I only packed the things that were most essential to me, I only had two boxes to carry.
I tiptoed out of the room and made my way downstairs with my two boxes. Before returning from the hospital, I already contracted who was going to pick me up. I opened the gate and dragged my boxes out. I took a final glance at the house where I had spent so many years sacrificing my life and happiness.
I picked my boxes and dragged them along with me without looking back.
When I arrived at the bus station, I quickly disposed of my phone in one of the trash cans. I was sure that by now, there must be a lot of confusion going on as to where I am or must have gone. Especially as I didn't leave a note.
Immediately I arrived at the airport, I put my boxes away and sat down waiting for my flight to be called.
“Neveah!” I heard a husky yet sweet voice call my name.
I turned back to check and was mesmerised by the gorgeous man honoring my sight with his presence.
“Lucien Blackwood…” He stretched out his hand with a smirk on his face. My eyes widened with shock as I realised who was standing in front of me. Lucien Blackwood… The CEO of BlackW. Inc. And the man my parents wanted me to marry.
