Chapter 3

Neveah's POV I finally gave up waiting for Killian and Nathah to come back to the restaurant, but they didn't. Neither did they send a car to pick me up. I had been calling the house for almost an hour, and none of the maids had picked up. I was willing to let everything go, but they just proved to me tonight that I meant nothing to them. Asking for my forgiveness was just an act that meant nothing. They even pushed me down, not minding whether or not I would get hurt. I dragged my feet out of the restaurant and ordered a ride. I arrived home about thirty minutes later with no one in sight. I made my way to the guest room and began packing my things. I would have to call the hospital again and reschedule the abortion for the second time. I thought I would not need to do it, but I was just wrong. I heard the room door flung open, and I turned to see Lucy standing by the door with a smug on her face. I didn't bother paying any attention to her, but my eyes caught something. I paused what I was doing and turned to look at her. I gasped, seeing her with that necklace on her neck. “Why in the world do you have my necklace? Why are you wearing something that was passed down to me by my grandmother? That's like my family heirloom, have you lost your mind!” I yelled at her, and she chuckled mockingly at me. “Take it off right now!” I said, ready to strangle the necklace off her if the need be. It's enough that she's here in my house and has taken over everything that belonged to me. I will not sit back and let her take a gift my grandmother gave to me so many years ago. “Oh please don't be such an angry bird. It's just a necklace, and I'm sure it's worth nothing compared to the expensive jewellery Killian has gotten me. You don't need to make a fuss over something so fickle.” Lucy spewed, and I exhaled shrugged, trying to control the anger building up in me. “If you don't put off that necklace right now. I will make sure that you are sorry and you never get to use that mouth of yours ever again.” I said to her, and she rolled her eyes. She finally began pulling the necklace from her neck. “I'm sure you can't relate to what I'm saying. You don't have any designer or jewellery, that is why this cheap thing means something to you. Don't worry about it, I will speak with Killian and beg him to take you shopping.” She said, but I couldn't care less about any of the things she was saying. I just wanted her to take my necklace off, however, just as she was about to give it to me, she turned her hand and the necklace slowly fell to the ground. I watched with wide eyes as it shattered. “Oops, it dropped on the floor. I told you this thing is cheap. Otherwise, it won't fall like that. It's even broken.” Lucy pouted her mouth as she spoke, and I could feel my ear turn red with anger. “No…” I cried out, seeing my precious necklace broken in pieces. I looked up at her, and she had a smile on her face. I didn't hesitate, I stood up and gave her a slap on the face. “Neveah…. You..” She was so shocked that she found it difficult to close her mouth. “How dare you?” She came at me, and I slapped her again. I didn't wait any longer, I pulled her by the leg and slammed her on the floor. She hit her head on the floor and began screaming. “Help me, let me go…” She cried, and in no time, Killian and Nathah rushed into the room to save her. “What nonsense are you even doing? What is wrong with you? Have you totally lost your head! How dare you lay a finger on her?” Killian yelled at me, but I didn't care, I was tired of tolerating her bullshit. “Lucy, are you okay?” Killian rushed to her side and carried her. “She has passed out. You had better pray that nothing happened to her, Neveah.” “She's at fault here! Why can't you understand?! Have you been so brainwashed by her that you don't even know what you're doing anymore?!” I yelled, tears falling from the corner of my eyes. However, Nathan glared at me with tears in his eyes, “If anything happens to Lucy, you won't be my mommy anymore! I'll tell dad to divorce you!” Killian finally stood up, his eyes blazing as he stared at me, Lucy held carefully in one arm. Without another word, he wrapped his palms around my neck, exerting pressure. I gasped, slapping his wrist but he didn't let me go. “Neveah, if anything happens to Lucy, you will regret it.” And just like that, he pushed me away. Hard. I felt myself falling backwards as they left and before I knew it, my stomach had collided with the sharp edge of the table. “Aahh!” I yelped in pain as my belly stung. I trembled, my entire body shaking to its core as pain spread through every fibre of my being. I felt blood trialling down my leg, and I couldn't hold back the tears. “Help me…” I cried as I held my stomach in my hands. The room filled with blood in minutes with blood gushing out of me uncontrollably. I groaned as I managed to crawl to where my phone was on the bed. I picked up the phone and placed a call to the emergency unit. “Help me please… Help me… Send me an ambulance, save my baby please…” I cried as that was the only thing I could think of as my life flashed right before me. The ambulance arrived later, and the nurses helped me into the ambulance. We arrived at the hospital, but I was too weak to ask any questions about the baby. When I opened my eyes the following morning, some doctors and nurses were with me. I tried to sit up but felt a sharp pain stabbed in my abdomen. “Doctor…” I called out weakly, and they came rushing to my side. “My baby… How is the baby doing?” I asked and held the doctor's hand. I struggled to breathe, but I didn't care, I just wanted to know how the baby was doing. “I'm sorry, Ma'am, but you lost the baby before you even made it to the hospital. Good thing you called us when you did. You lost so much blood, and if you had not gotten here on time, you would have lost your life as well.” The doctor explained, and I burst into tears. “You are still in a critical condition and would need to be kept under observation for a few days.” The doctor said, and I nodded my head in understanding. I couldn't help but shed tears. I never thought my baby would be killed by its own father. I picked up a call and put a call through to someone. It rang twice before the person on the other end of the phone picked up. “Neveah.” His booming voice came. Tears filled my eyes again, “Dad, I'm coming back home. You won the bet, I will marry the man you want me to marry.” “Good choice, Neveah. He will come to pick you up.” Two days later, I arrived at the mansion to go pack my things. I was still weak and pale but I could not wait to get this part of my life over with. “Where have you been the past two days? You were not even here to make dinner, despite knowing Lucy isn't feeling too well.” Killian yelled at me the moment I stepped into the house. I stared at him for a moment, the corner of my eyes stinging. But… I could bear it. Not anymore. “I want a divorce!”
