A Second Chance: Vanessa.

Enrique was getting dressed when I stepped out of the shower. Last night had been amazing. He was amazing. I couldn’t explain why by I felt safe around him. I felt cared for. He made me want to smile and laugh. I walked up to him and hugged him. He turned and I tried to kiss him but he moved his head and took my hands off his torso. “Uhm! Hold on a sec.” He pushed me away slightly and I frowned. “What’s wrong with you?” “This thing.” He pointed between us and sighed. “What are we doing?” “We’re…” I trailed off. I had wanted to say we were hooking up but that couldn’t define it. At first, it had been just a stress reliever. Now I didn’t know what it was we were doing. But I couldn’t deny that there was something between us. I was attracted to him sexually. That’s the first time I’ve ever been this attracted to anyone. “Exactly. You don’t know what we’re doing. I don’t know what we’re doing either but I do know we need to stop. You’re…Well you’re just a kid and I’m–“ “Excuse me? What do you mean I’m just a kid?” “You’re nineteen, aren’t you?” I stiffened. “How do you know that?” “I know who you are, Vanessa. At least half of who you are. You’re Vanessa Hastings. You’re the survivor of the boating accident that happened eleven years ago. Your parents died here.” “How did–“ I swallowed. “How did you know it was me?” His eyes softened and he smiled. “You don’t look that much different from the girl in the picture. You just have to smile more.” He placed his fingers at the sides of my lips and pulled them upwards. I tapped his hand away. “It doesn’t mean anything. I’m not a child anymore.” “Maybe you’re not but I’m still way older than you.” I snorted. “Don’t flatter yourself. You’re just eight years older than me. Besides, I’ll be twenty next month.” “Yeah, twenty and I’m twenty eight. Do you see the major difference? I feel like I’m f*****g a kid.” “Relax, Dinosaur. I’m no kid.” I grabbed his d**k and he yelped. Then I grabbed his neck and kissed him. I stroked him through his boxers and he groaned in my mouth. I pushed him backward till he landed on the bed and straddled him. “I’m serious, Vanessa. We need to stop.” I took off my towel and threw it behind me. Let’s see how much he could keep his protest up. I pulled down the front of his boxers and grabbed his d**k. It was already semi hard. So much for not wanting to f**k a kid. I took him in my mouth and sucked on the tip knowing how much it drove him crazy. He groaned and his mouth fell open. He grabbed my head and pushed me further down as I bobbed up and down on him. His leg muscles tightened and he gripped my hair tight. “F**k,” he moaned. The sounds he made made me so w*t, I moaned. I pulled away and looked at him. His eyes were glazed with lust. “Why did you stop?” “Because you’re way older than me and I feel like you’re a paedophile.” I batted my lashes at him. “Not funny, Vanessa.” “You’re right. It’s such a silly excuse. Who could even think of it?” I grabbed his member and stroked it. “f**k! I’m going to kill you.” I let go and slid down on him. I felt so full and content, I didn’t want to move. But, he grabbed my waist and moved me up and down. I continued at his pace and he stroked my tattoo, his fingers stroking the puckered flesh beneath the boomerang. “Do you still want me to stop?” I placed my hands on his chest and increased my pace. “Don’t you dare.” His hands slid up to my chest and he grabbed my breasts and toyed with the n*****s. “Oh!” I moaned. He pulled me off him and flipped me beneath him. Then he pushed back into me and seized my lips as he pumped faster and faster. His kiss got deeper and more intense and I got lost in him. I threw my hands around him and held him tighter. With one final pump, we both climaxed. “Enrique!” I moaned. “Yeah?” He grabbed my face and kissed me again. He didn’t stop kissing me till he went flaccid in me. He pulled away but didn’t pull out. I stared at his face, at his brown eyes with flecks of gold in them and my chest felt full with an emotion I couldn’t explain. I wanted us to remain like this, trapped in this moment forever. But he pulled out of me and the moment was broken. He turned to his side and wrapped his hand around my waist. “Why didn’t you tell me you had been to this island before?” He trailed his fingers round the bandage on the side of my stomach. “It wasn’t exactly something I liked to talk about.” His fingers moved down to my waist and he traced the puckered flesh beneath my tattoo. “How did you get this?” “When the boat crashed. I had fallen out of the boat and a jagged piece of the hull had cut me.” I pushed back memories of that day as it flooded my mind. His fingers moved to another scar. This one was a knife wound. “And this?” “I got that during training.” “Training?” I turned to him. I didn’t know why but I felt like telling him everything about me. “Yeah. When I was thirteen, I ran away from home. Don’t ask me why. I was found on the streets by a guy and he took me in and took care of me. He taught me how to fight and defend myself on the streets.” That wasn’t the entire truth, just a glossed over version but he didn’t need to know everything. Some details of my life were too gory to be discussed. His hand moved down to another scar beneath my stomach and I stiffened, reminded once again of the missing parts of me. “And this?” “I don’t want to talk about that.” “Okay.” He went back to my tattoo. “Why did you draw a tattoo over this one and not the others?” Because that one was gotten from another time in my life. Before all the bad came in. “I don’t know. I just did,” I said instead. “Are you hungry? I’m hungry.” “Yeah, I’m hungry too. You took all of my energy.” He hugged me and nuzzled my hair. “Stop whining like you didn’t enjoy it.” He smiled. “I did.” He looked amazing with his hair all ruffled and the smell of s*x still clinging to him. He looked like a bad boy. My bad boy. I got off the bed and pulled on a dress. It was a white flowing dress that ended above my knee. Enrique put on his boxers, followed by his pants. I took off the band on my wrist and tried to pack my hair up but he stopped me. “You look beautiful this way.” “Okay.” I let it down and slipped the band back on my wrist. He grabbed my hand and entwined our fingers as we stepped out of the room and I chuckled. “What are you doing?” “Holding hands like we’re a couple.” He winked. He was ridiculous but I didn’t pull away. We were about entering the restaurant/ dining hall when the receptionist called me. “There’s a call for you,” she said. I frowned. Who could be calling me here? Nobody knew me here. “You can go take it. In the meantime, I’ll order our food.” He let go of my hand and went into the restaurant. I moved to the receptionist and she handed me the landline. “Who is it?” I asked her. “He didn’t say. He just requested for you.” It was obvious she was interested in knowing who it was. Her ears were at alert and she kept looking at me. I lifted the receiver to my ear and moved a few inches away from her. “Hello?” “Scarlett, my darling.” A croaky voice said and I stiffened. I knew that voice all too well. I glanced behind me to find the receptionist looking at me with rapt attention. She looked away immediately. I picked up the phone and moved further away. “Won’t you say anything? Aren’t you happy to hear from me?” “What do you want, Sniper?” “You. I’m willing to give you another chance to come back. You know I don’t give second chances but I’m choosing to make an exception this time. You are my favourite after all.” “I’m not coming back, Sniper.” “Don’t test me, girl. You know what happens to people who cross me. Did you really think you could get away with doing that? Especially with that imbecile you’re with. Although I have him to thank for finding you. If he hadn’t uploaded those videos, I’d have never known where you were.” “Your cover’s blown, Scarlett. I’m giving you another chance to kill that i***t and come back to me. Fail me again and I’ll gut you myself.” He hung up. I glanced at Harrison standing at the entrance to welcome the car coming up the driveway and anger bubbled in me. I slammed the receiver down and dropped the phone at the receptionist’s desk. She blinked at me in shock. I marched into the restaurant and grabbed Enrique by the arm and pulled him up the stairs. The guests were already getting out of the car. I didn’t see their faces but I knew who they were already. Kira and Dimitri. I pushed the door open and grabbed my things. “Start packing, we’re leaving.” I pulled out my gun from my bag and c****d it. “What? Why? I haven’t booked our flight yet.” “You can book it on the way. They’ve found us all thanks to you.” I pointed my gun at him. “How could you be so f*****g stupid?” I screamed at him. His eyes widened and he stepped away from me. “Uploading videos of where we were when there were people out there trying to kill us.” “I had to upload the videos of the town. That’s what I came here to do.” “You’re such an i***t! I should just kill you right now and end it all.” I placed a finger on the trigger. Sniper would take me back and all this running around would stop. But I didn’t want that kind of life anymore. I could be happy. Enrique had showed me that and here I was pointing a gun at his face. I dropped my hand and grabbed my bag. “We don’t have much time. Take everything you need before they figure out the room we’re staying.” I moved to the window and pushed it open. It was a long jump down but we could make it without breaking any bones. He grabbed his bag and stuffed clothes inside them. I jumped out the window and landed on my feet. Enrique followed and landed face flat on the floor. “Ugh! I think I broke my nose.” He turned and stared up at the sky. His nose wasn’t broken. He had a bruise on his cheekbone but that was it. “What are you doing? Get up.” He groaned and got to his feet. We ran through the foliage and burst out on the driveway. Luckily for us, the cab that had dropped Kira and Dimitri was driving away. I jumped in front of it and pointed my gun at the driver. “Stop the car!” The car screeched to a halt and I got in beside the driver. His hands shook as he raised them and he trembled. “Please don’t shoot me. I don’t have any money. This is my first ride today.” “Ssh! Drive.” The car started and I turned to Enrique. “Book the flight.” He took out his phone and I faced the driver. The poor thing was shaken. His hands were unsteady on the wheel. There was already a sheen of sweat pooling on his brows. “Relax. I’m not going to shoot you.” I tucked the gun away but it didn’t calm him down. We made it to the port, got out of the car and got in the first boat I saw. The pilot was just docking the boat and he looked up as we entered. “I’m not driving out for another couple of hours. Move on to the next boat.” I pointed my gun at him and his eyes widened. “Sweet Jesus!” “You are now. Move it.” He turned to the wheel and started the engine. I faced Enrique. “Have you booked the flight?” “Yeah. It’s a morning flight from Charlotte straight to Italy.” The boat pulled out of the port and we sat on a bench. “How did you know they were here?” “I got a call from my boss.” I was still mad at him but I didn’t feel like killing him anymore. We had managed to get out just in time but I knew Dimitri and he never gave up. He’d be on to us soon. “So he called to warn you about the people he sent to kill us?” “He called to give me a second chance to come back. I just had to finish what I started.” “So why didn’t you?” he asked. I looked away. A seagull flew beside our boat and I watched as it glided smoothly in the air probably searching for fish to eat. Suddenly, it flew away. I turned away and saw Dimitri at the port with a bazooka on his shoulder. He fired and a missile headed straight for us. “s**t! Jump!” I pushed Enrique overboard just as it hit the boat and it blew up. The explosion forced us into the water and I let go of him. My eyes rounded as water filled my lungs and I struggled against the force dragging me down to the bottom. “Vanessa!” My mum’s voice echoed as she called out to me. In my head, I was back in that water eleven years ago. I tried to reach for the boat as the water dragged me away and I watched as the boat sank. I struggled and kicked my legs to propel myself upward but I was choking. I couldn’t breath. There was water everywhere. “Mum,” I tried to say but only bubbles came out of my mouth. I got tired of struggling and I just submitted to the water and let it take me.
