Maggie
“Um, Todd, what are you doing here?” I asked as soon as the door slammed shut behind Alpha Dominic.
“I told you. You ran off the other morning. I was hoping to have a repeat of the night before,” he chuckled, winking at me. Eww.
“Oh. About that…” I started, nervously. “That was a one time thing. I’m not usually like that…” my voice trailed off, not really sure what to say. I wish this guy would leave.
“Well next time we will make it more romantic,” Todd said, stepping closer to me. I stepped backwards, suddenly very uncomfortable. “So when can I take you out? We need a night on the town together.”
‘Oh no we don’t. Mags, I don’t like this guy,’ Echo piped up. ‘There’s something very off about him.’
‘I know… I’m actually wishing Alpha Dominic hadn’t left so quickly,’ I told her. ‘I don’t know what to do.’
‘Find a reason to get him out. Any reason. Tell him you have to work.’ Good idea.
“Well Todd, I hate to cut this visit short, but I need to get ready for work,” I said suddenly, glancing at the clock on the wall to make a point.
“You told me you were a teacher. It’s summertime.” f**k.
“Well I am… it is. I tutor!” I spit out. His eyes narrowed at me as if he knew I was lying. “I tutor the Alpha’s son at the packhouse.”
“Look at you babe. So dedicated! Go ahead and get ready for work. I’ll drive you,” he smiled at me and went to sit down on the couch.
“That’s really not necessary-“ I started to say. Especially since I didn’t have a tutoring session with DJ today. Todd cut me off, motioning for me to go.
“Hush, my pet. I’m driving you. Go get ready.” I sighed and went to my room to get ready for the job I didn’t have today. What the hell was this guys deal?
‘Mr. Creepy likes you… my pet.’ Echo snickered. ‘This would be funny if there wasn’t something very sketchy about him. He doesn’t smell.’
‘He’s a human,’ I reminded her.
‘And he doesn’t smell like one of them either. Let him drive you to the packhouse and go inside. I think you should talk to the Alpha about this. Whatever he is, he’s gotten onto the pack territory twice now. Once with you, but now alone.’ I knew Echo was right.
I rushed to get dressed, throwing on some brown slacks and an ivory top. I ran into the bathroom and ran a finger through my curls. I grabbed my work bag and plastered a fake smile on my face before returning to the living room.
“All set!” I said cheerfully. Mr. Creepy was standing at the window, staring and scowling into the distance. When he heard me, the scowl was immediately replaced with his creepy fake smile and his dead brown eyes.
“Put your hair up. It’s a mess,” he said, the smile never leaving his face.
What the eff. I didn’t even waste time arguing, I just wanted this guy gone. I ran back to the bathroom and grabbed a hair tie, pulling my hair up into a bun on top of my head, debating if it was even safe to get into a car with this guy. Not knowing what else to do, I linked Alpha Dominic.
‘Alpha? Something isn’t right with Todd. He’s making me very uncomfortable and is insisting on driving me to the packhouse when I tried to tell him I had to work. He’s being weird.’ Alpha Dominic’s reply was immediate.
‘Stall. I will be there in five minutes. Do not get into a car with that guy, Maggie. I’m coming.’
