“Mate!” Dominic’s youngest sister, Dana, stood in front of us, staring at my sister with huge eyes. “Goddess you’re adorable! And I absolutely love your glasses!” She gushed excitedly.
Leah was pale, her eyes wide, and she looked absolutely scared to death. I could hear my mother behind us and suddenly realized what Leah had been trying to tell me.
“They can’t be mates,” mother was saying. “They’re both girls. That’s not even possible is it?! Richard, do something.” My mom commanded my father. Daddy rolled his eyes and walked towards us. Leah who had yet to say a word had tears forming in her eyes. Dana’s smile had faded and she looked genuinely concerned that her new mate was about to reject her in front of the crowd that was forming around us.
