Paige is aware of the tears that are forming around her eyes. She focuses her attention on her toes. "If you want to know the truth, I... I won the lottery. I received $5,000. And as I was about to encash the check, and then I noticed that there was a gang of males following me.”
Damien gasped. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Paige may be right. This could be really the reason why Douglas's group is keeping an eye on this woman. And maybe that’s why she had a terrified expression when she accidentally ran into him.
What does make him wonder, though, is whether or not five thousand dollars is truly worth everything. Douglas and his group are a notorious mafia that operates in this area. He just can't wrap his head around the fact that Douglas’s group would go to such lengths to steal five thousand dollars. If Douglas's men are serious about taking Paige's money, they should give up pursuing her once they fail to rob her on the first try. But no, they didn’t do it. Instead, they kept following them.
He hissed in her direction. "I don't believe you. Those men must be familiar to you. Hmm, I have a feeling that you deceived them, don't you?"
Paige's eyes widen. “What! I have no idea what you are talking about! This is ridiculous!”
His lips began to part. This woman is putting his tolerance to the test. He’s starting to lose patience. He must demonstrate to Paige his authority to inspire fear in her. "Are you going, to be honest with me, or are you not going to?"
"I'm not making this stuff up! And why are you so close? What exactly are you going to do...?" Paige made an effort to calm her nerves by taking deep breaths and swallowing hard.
"You won’t like it, Paige, when I’m mad,”
"W-What are you going to do...?" She asked helplessly.
He answered her question with a straightforward response. "I will f**k you, Paige,”
Her face gets pallid. "So, if I were in your position, I would tell the truth," He continued.
Paige seemed to be in a big dilemma. She got to her feet and attempted to run away from him. But Damien was able to seize her wrist without breaking a sweat. "Are you going, to be honest with me, or not?”
Damien frightened her by threatening to kiss her, but she ran away. Paige's eyes dilated. Oh, he was well aware that Paige was racking her brain for ways to escape from him and protect herself. He knew she would resort to any means just to escape from him. As she was about to make a move, he hugged her from behind.
He has no intention of touching her or f**k her at any point, even in the future. He just wanted to scare her so she would tell the truth. But, damn! This woman is a pain in the ass! She is difficult to please.
The only option available to Damien is to carry and lift the young lady. Paige yelled at him and smacked him in the back. "Put me down, Damien!"
He did not pay attention to what she was saying and threw her onto the mattress. He positioned himself, so his body and weight were on top of her, and he began to kiss her. The tension in Paige's body increases, and she does everything in her power to escape his kisses. She even closes her mouth to prevent him from kissing her.
After tasting her lips, Damien came dangerously close to losing control of his emotions. f**k. Paige's lips are the sweetest lips that he has ever tasted in his f*****g entire life. She’s sweeter than Vanessa.
Of course, at first, all he wanted to do was threaten this woman. But, her beauty is too delicate and sweet to handle. He tried to stop himself, but his hands couldn't resist the urge to move all over her body.
He heard Paige moaning with her eyes closed. And Damien felt like someone threw him a bucket of ice. He pulled away her body from him and stopped kissing her. He was abruptly brought back to reality.
Oh man, he was well aware that he is not a kind person. But he’s not a devil! He can’t believe that he can do this to a woman. Damn, what is happening to him? Especially a pure and good-hearted woman like Paige!
But, it seems Paige was also turned on. He put a gap between them.
He is taking his time to gather his breath. Paige opened her eyes. Damien is unable to read the uncertainty in her gaze. There are a lot of questions in her eyes. And he is interested in learning about those questions. Curious to know more about the new emotions he is experiencing right now.
He couldn't believe that he had the ability to treat a woman in such a manner. Damn. Now, he despises himself more than he ever has before.
He wants to keep his true feelings and desire hidden from her. He chooses to speak to her in an angry tone. This is what he only could do.
"Paige, now you know what I’m capable of doing. So, I demand that you tell me the truth," He made an effort to calm his tone of speech.
He didn’t look at her while Paige took a few deep breaths. "As I told you before, Damien, I have no idea. I hope that you can believe my words,”
Damien let out a sigh of exasperation. Deep down, he felt that what she was saying was the truth. But, it is quite challenging for him to believe what she is saying.
On the other hand, Paige is crying deep inside as she embraces herself and sobs.
It's like, she has lost her way. Oh, she hopes that Damien will believe her: she is telling the truth!
Damien is confident that they will be safe in His Villa because it is situated in the Southcrest bound and is not a part of the metropolitan area. His villa is secluded from the surrounding neighborhood, and it is fully outfitted with both furnishings and appliances.
The Villa that he owns has three rooms in it. Two of the rooms, however, are currently vacant. The bed and other furnishings are reserved exclusively for the master bedroom. In any case, given how infrequently he comes here, it would be impractical for him to make further purchases for the two rooms. About once a month, he finds himself in this Villa.
He bought this Villa as a gift for his late wife – Vanessa. Vanessa told him how much she likes to have her own Villa. So when he found out that this Villa was available, he immediately made the purchase for her without giving it a second thought. It's a shame that Vanessa was never able to see this villa. She was unable to witness the fulfillment of her goal in her lifetime. In the midst of that distressing recollection, he took a big breath.
"Paige, you will be sleeping in this room, which is the main bedroom. In the meantime, you'll find me dozing off in the living room. The couch is much too huge for me to sit on. And also, you need to make sure that the windows are shut. It is preferable to avoid such problems by taking precautions. If you are getting too hot, you can always turn on the air conditioner. There is no need for you to be concerned about that,” Damien said.
Paige is unable to gaze into his eyes. “I… I just want to go home, Damien,"
He nodded. He thinks that's probably for the best in the long run. "Yeah, absolutely. You will be returning home tomorrow. It is already really late and perhaps dangerous. Get some rest, and you'll be able to go home the next day.” He promised her. That’s his plan anyway.

He was already fast asleep at the time, when the strong slap fell on Damien's cheeks. He feels like he experiences a disconnection between his body and his soul. The lids of his eyes opened on their own. He looked up to see Paige standing in front of him with angry eyes.
"What the hell is going on, Paige? Why did you slap me?" He asked while pressing his cheeks together. He is trying to control his anger.
He looks into her eyes and does not detect any sign of fear. Usually, Paige is always scared of him. Her expression reveals a range of feelings. She appears to be upset, afraid, and on the verge of crying or some other emotional outburst.
"What did you do, Damien? Where is my cheque? This is not my cheque. Rather, it is a billing record that I am completely unfamiliar with!” She sobbed loudly and uncontrollably.
What the heck is she talking about? She talks in riddles! His brows converged into a single straight line. What exactly is she going on? He took the paper out of her grasp and mentally read what was written on it.
While he read what was written on the paper, his hands were trembling. Now that he is aware of the truth, he can better understand why Douglas's group is after this woman.
This is not a check drawn from a bank. On the other hand, this is a billing statement that includes illicit weapons, and there’s also a bank account included and a transaction ID number. Everything is starting to make more sense to him now.
Douglas is keeping an eye on this woman because he believes she may have evidence that he and another person are engaging in criminal activity. And if Paige ever hands up this document to the authorities, then their illegal organization will be put out of business.
And it should come as no surprise that those jerks are terrified for their lives.
Paige regarded him with suspicion as she eyed him. "I trusted you, Damien! You are the one that took care of replacing my check for this billing, right? Damien, where is my check?"
He hissed at her. “Stupid! Do you think I have something to do with it? Where did you get that billing statement, huh? Where did you place your cheque?"
Paige is becoming more reflective. It is clear from the expression on her face that she was on the edge of tears. Her features are completely unmasked. And at this very moment, all he wanted to do was reassure her. He was even unclear as to the reason.
"As soon as I got this check, I headed to the bank institution that is most convenient to where I work. But, the teller at the bank informed me that to proceed, I would need to present some form of identity. And because all I have is my employee identification card, I assured her that I would be back the next day,"
“And?”
“And what? That’s all. That is what happened, trust me. I have no recollection of anyone or anything at all. Nobody has their hands on my check!”
Damien has begun to contemplate things in great detail. "No one took a look at your check, did they?" He is confirming it.
She gave a small shake of her head. "Of course, I’m sure of that. Nobody other than myself and the teller at the bank handled my check,"
“Have you double-checked your check after the teller returned it to you at the bank? I mean... did you check to see whether it was your check before you go?”
Paige is stunned. She has no recollection of opening the envelope or confirming that the check was indeed hers. Her face began to look paler. "I believe... no. I did not verify that it was indeed my check. I just put it in my bag,"
