Prologue

I took a breath, steady Frey, steady. Don’t lose your-  “Mate.” Isolde, my wolf, growled. His eyes locked with mine and I had no control anymore, the most I could do was turn my run to a walk. He stood from the table and the room went silent. It was barely half a second before I was in his arms, so gentle yet so yearning. I felt safe, I felt right. Isolde whimpered with joy, murmuring “Mate, mate, mate. We found him.” over and over in my head. I almost joined her. The room erupted in cheers and laughter, “The Alpha has found his mate!” Someone yelled. Someone grabbed us and pulled us apart but our gazes never broke. He grinned like a kid and I did too.  Was this truly the cold Alpha I had heard about? The one who’s only company was books and training? Surely, surely it couldn’t be. The glasses, books and papers strewn across his desk suggested so, but the light gleaming in his eyes said otherwise.  What was to come would provide the answers, and how my life was to change.
