The Vampire King’s POV
I sank my teeth into her neck and let her blood flow into my mouth. As King, I have the unique ability to see memories and secrets buried deep inside Someone, and I wanted to know General Aria’s secrets. I wanted to know what the army was planning. It usually takes a few moments for the first memory to hit, but when it did, I wasn’t expecting what I saw.
“Mom I don’t want to fight vampires,” Aria was a little kid in this memory, “The kind vampire just saved my life. Maybe they aren’t as bad as we say they are!”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Aria turned and looked at who I assumed was her father, “They are nothing but monsters that want nothing more than to use us as feeders. You are the best fighter your age Aria. You have mastered the sword, bow, and knife already, and you are only ten. You will be general one day, but you need more training. You are my pride and joy. You cannot be siding with the vampires.”
Everything went black in my mind after that, and the next memory popped up. This one was more recent.
“Shadow, I have a secret for you,” Aria sat in a lavish room with the Snow Leopard, “I think I like someone.” For whatever reason, I felt intense jealousy when she said that.
The Snow Leopard purred and rubbed its head against Aria’s head.
Aria giggled, “I think I like James.” That’s when she let out a deep sigh, “My father won’t be happy he doesn’t have a higher rank, but When I take the general position next year, he won’t have a say over my life anymore.”
There was nothing to see with the next memory; only words could be heard.
“You tried killing Shadow and I! Leave and never come back!”
I dropped the General softly onto the bed and scooched away from her. Her blood was the best I ever tasted. I was glad I had her kidnapped and brought here. I was, however, disappointed I didn’t see anything about military secrets. I was upset that I only saw about her home memories, but why she wanted to repress those was a mystery.
“What are you hiding inside your mind, General Mercia?” I lean closer to her as I whisper to myself, “I will find out Everything one day. Be prepared because your living hell starts tomorrow.”
I get up and walk out of her borrowed room. Walking down the hall, I enter my office and see my second in command waiting for me.
“Sir,” He began, “Everything is going according to plan. Our spies in the human’s army have confirmed that they know the general and her animal are missing.”
“Good,” I sit down and smile, “Have James return, it’s time we reunite the two lovers.”

Aria’s POV
“Wake up, you piece of trash,” Someone grabbed my legs and flung me to the ground, “The King has some work for you to do.”
Opening my eyes, I see a girl standing over top of me. She was barely five feet tall, and she had platinum blond hair that went down to her lower back. Her icy blue eyes glared down at me.
“Did you hear me, human?” She grabbed my hair and lifted me, so I was at her eye level, “The King has work for you. Get dressed. The King doesn’t need to see you in just underwear, even if you are his personal w***e right now.”
Before she had a chance to do anything, I spat in her face and grabbed her hands. Twisting as hard as I could, I broke both wrists. When she fell to the ground screaming, I gave her a swift kick to the face, “I’m not going just to sit around as you disrespect me,” Now it was my turn to grab her by her hair, “Next time you disrespect me I will break your neck, and I don’t care if it brings me death. I don’t care that your human and that you have been captured as I have, you will not disrespect me.”
Through a haze of tears, she stared at me in shock, “You know I’m human?”
I laugh at her, “Of course I know a human when I see one, I am the Human leader. You don’t act like a vampire. Now you will listen to what I say, or I break your neck. I have been training to kill people since I was old enough to walk. Do you understand what I have said?”
She starts crying harder and nods, yes, “I’ll do whatever you say.”
“Great,” I smile sweetly at her and secure a hand around her throat before letting go of her hair, “Now tell me, did they bring Shadow with them when they kidnapped me?”
“Yes,” She choked out, “She’s being held in the King’s collection room.”
“What’s your name, human?”
“Chelsey.” She stopped struggling out of my hold when I tightened my hand.
“How long have you been here, Chelsey, and what do you do with the king?”
Chelsey tried to look away and not answer, but my hand tightened again.
“Answer my question, Chelsey,” I brought her closer to me, “You don’t want things to get messy, do you?”
“Eleven!” Chelsey gasped out, “The King brought me here to pleasure him. Eventually, I started being a messenger for him.”
“Does he trust you, Chelsey?”
She shook her head, “I don’t know. If the second comes in to talk to the King, I am sent away. The King only uses me for pleasure and to send messages. Normally the recipients use me as well.”
I drop her to the ground, and as she’s gasping for breath, I say, “You have no useful information for me then. You are loyal to the King even though he kidnapped you and uses you every day. The worst part is you love being used. You love the way everyone here treats you. Leave my room and tell the King that if he wants me to do something, then he’ll have to make me because I’m not doing anything that bastard wants me to do.”
“The King doesn’t take no as an answer.” Chelsey trembled on the floor, “I’ll get in trouble if I come back and say that to him.”
I laugh, “I don’t care what happens to you. You love being punished, I can tell. You love what he does to you. You are too far gone for me to care about what happens to you. Now get out of my room and tell the King what I said,” I pause and watch as she struggles to get up, “You might want to get your wrists checked out as well. I broke both of them and possibly fractured a couple of other bones.”
I laugh as she runs out of the room. In her hurry, she trips and falls on her arms. Her cry of pain was like music to my ears. Someone who sides with the vampires is less than virmen in my eyes. It was unfortunate, what happened to her, but she accepted her fate and never fought back. Now she dressed lavishly, had her hair and nails done to perfection, and did the King’s bidding.
