Ethan woke up to an empty bed, he wondered where Ava would be at these early hours of the day.
His mind wandered off to work, he took a quick glance at his phone.
No missed calls, unread messages nor unopened emails.
He breathed out in relief, as he lazily got out of bed making his way to the bathroom.
He watched himself in the large bathroom mirror as he brushed his teeth.
He couldn't help but notice how soft he has grown towards Ava. The unavoidable attraction he felt anytime she was near.
He ran fingers through his thick hair taking a final look at himself before stepping into the shower for a morning bath.
“Ava!!!" He called out as he walked downstairs.
He got no response, as he looked around.
The sweet aroma emanating from the kitchen caught his nose. He found himself approaching the kitchen.
“Hey, what are you doing here?" Ethan's voice came from the door.
"I'm making breakfast,” Ava responded, almost immediately.
“How about the Cook" He asked, taking a bottle of water from the fridge.
“ How about you settle in, and let me serve you breakfast" Ava said, ignoring his question.
" Here you go” Ava said as she set the food in front of him on the kitchen table.
“Pasta?" He asked surprisingly, beaming with smiles.
“You like it?" Ava asked, hoping to get his review.
" Mmmhmm” he nodded, his mouth full of pasta.
Ava sat staring at him, as he ate.
" He seemed so into his food" Ava thought to herself.
“You're just gonna sit there staring, aren't you eating?" Ethan asked, looking her way.
Ava felt a flush of embarrassment, as she settled down eating slowly.
" What will you be doing today?” Ethan asked, hoping to start a conversation.
"I would like to watch a movie” she responded unsure of what she wanted to do.
"I'd like to show you something,” Ethan said, more like a request.
Her heart skipped, what does he want to show her.
“Come with me " he said, his hand stretched out to Ava.
She took his hand as he led her away to the beach.
As they reached the cove, Ava gasped in wonder. A yacht was anchored in the cove.
Ethan smiled, he felt so excited seeing Ava's reaction.
“I had this yacht brought in especially for today" Ethan announced.
" You had a yacht brought in!!!" Ava exclaimed surprisingly.
As they boarded the yacht, Ava's heart skipped a beat. She felt like she was living a dream.
The yacht smoothly glided through the waves.
Ethan stood at the helm, his eyes fixed on the horizon.
Ava couldn't help but admire how well he looked, she felt a wave of peace wash over her as she looked at the waters.
Ethan turned to her, his gaze fixed on her face. He seemed so lost looking at her.
“What are you thinking about?" she asked him.
“How beautiful you look this moment" he replied almost immediately.
Ava felt a flush rise to her cheeks , she smiled blushing so hard.
Suddenly Ethan's phone buzzed, breaking the enchantment of the moment.
His expression shocked.
“I need to take this," he said, as he took the call.
" Send the videos and photos” his voice was low, yet he sounded urgent.
Ava couldn't help but wonder who was at the other end of the call.
“What's wrong?" Ava asked as he hung up.
“Nothing for you to worry about" Ethan reassured her as his expression smoothed out.
Ava nodded but still couldn't shake off the feeling that something wasn't right.
“Take us back to the shore" He instructed as he turned to one of the crew members.
Ava felt disappointed instantly, she had hoped for a good time.
As they returned to the shore, Ava couldn't feel at ease.
She knew something was off.
As they stepped off the yacht, and walked off the dock towards their villa.
Ethan walked hurriedly, Ava could barely keep up with his pace.
He ran upstairs, Ava following right behind him.
He brought out his laptop and video called his personal assistant.
She picked at the first ring,
“Good day sir " Claire greeted nervously.
“Tell me what I need to know, " he instructed.
" An unknown person gained access to the company's server, manipulated data, disrupted communications and transferred funds. Important documents are also missing, sir” Claire narrated.
" What! How possible is that” Ethan sounded in disbelief.
“Something has to be done, we can't have our major investors pulling out" Claire said in despair.
“I'll be back in New York, before tomorrow” Ethan concluded not letting Claire say anything further, he hung up.
Ava's curiosity reached its brim. She could notice how unsettled Ethan had become.
“What's going on?" Ava asked with a concerned tone.
" Nothing for you to worry about” Ethan's response sharp and curt.
" Get ready, we are leaving tonight” He added.
Ava's heart sank, all hopes flashed out. Moments ago she had thought they were getting along, and now everything seemed to die out quickly.
She turned to look at Ethan, only to see that cold look back on his face. He seemed entirely different from the sweet soft person he was moments ago.
Ava jerked out of her thoughts as Ethan's phone rang.
Ethan took a quick glance at his screen,
“I need to take this," he muttered as he moved away.
Ava nodded, feeling a sense of frustration, as she watched him walk away.
He came back shortly, his eyes intently fixed on her.
“We need to leave” he said, his voice firm "Now”.
Ava's heart skipped, what was going on?
Ava's mind was racing, as she followed Ethan out of the villa. She had no idea of what was happening.
As they reached the car, Ethan opened the door for Ava to get in. She did , and he got in too.
He started the engine and pulled away from the villa. The drive to the airport was a silent one.
As they reached the airport, Ethan pulled up to a private hanger.
Ava's eyes widened, her mouth fell open as she saw a sleek Private jet waiting on the runway.
“Get on the plane," Ethan instructed.
As Ava got on the plane, she couldn't help but feel worried.
The plane took off soaring into the sky. Ava looked outside the window watching as the lights of the Amalfi coast disappeared into the dis
tance.
She turned to Ethan who was sitting across from her.
“Where are we going?" she asked, her voice firm.
“New York" he replied, his voice low and rough.
