CHAPTER 3

Ava got up to find the bed empty. She sat up, rubbing her eyes, wondering if Ethan actually slept beside her throughout the night. Her foot hit a sheet of paper to the ground from the edge of the bed. She picked it up. “It is handwritten” she thought to herself surprisingly. "I'll be back soon" it read. She was sure it was Ethan who had left the note. Ava felt a little bit of disappointment. She had hoped to talk things out with Ethan, maybe get to know him better, whereas he was her husband. Ava pushed the thought aside as she lazily got out of the bed. She slowly walked around the room, not exactly sure of what she was looking for. As she looked around the room taking in the details, she realized she still felt trapped. Just then she heard a knock on the door. She curiously walked towards the door, it was Bernie the house cook. “Good morning ma'am" he said, beaming with smiles. Ava nodded curtly towards him while holding the door open for him. He walked in with a tray containing Ava's breakfast, he neatly arranged it on the table at one end of the room. "Here is something light for breakfast, ma'am," Bernie said, gesturing to Ava to go ahead and take a seat. Bernie exited the room while Ava settled in to have her food. She gulped down half a glass of water, then bit into the buttered slices of bread. With her cup of tea, she slowly walked to the large window enjoying the outside view while sipping on her tea. The environment outside was indeed a sight to behold, the flower beddings were really beautiful, the trees neatly trimmed. Everything outside seemed to remind Ava of how wealthy and powerful Ethan was. As the sun was going down, Ava became weary. She didn't know what to do to keep her busy till Ethan returned. She wasn't interested in her phone as she knew the whole media would be stuck on highlights from Ethan Ryder's wedding to Ava Morales. Ava made her way to the bathroom, she took a quick shower and headed straight to Ethan's closet. Just then did she realize that she had none of her personal stuff here. “Everything here looks so official, nothing casual" Ava thought to herself. " Looking for something huh" Ethan's voice came from behind. Ava froze up. " I didn't… mean to.." she stuttered trying to find the right words . “What are you doing in my closet?" he asked in a low tone, while walking towards her. Ava's heart sank, his intense gaze made her feel weak. Ethan was right in front of her, his scented cologne filled Ava's nose. She felt so lost in his eyes as he looked down at her. There was something so mesmerizing about Ethan's eyes, it has that effect on her nobody else has. Ethan closed up the gap between them by pulling her in by her waist. “Ohh Ava" he let out in a low husky voice. " I'm sorry I” she struggled with but was silenced as Ethan placed his thumb on her lips. His gaze traveled down to her chest, only then did she realize that the towel wasn't covering her up properly. He gently walked his hand to her bare back while whispering to her ear. “Get ready our flight is in a few" Ava shivered lightly, “But I have nothing to wear," Ava said, her voice slightly above a whisper. “The room next door has everything you'll need," Ethan said to her. Hearing that Ava freed herself from his grasp, and hurriedly left for the other room. Ethan stood there smiling to himself. The drive to the airport was a silent one. “Why would he do things to make her feel uneasy?" Ava thought to herself. “Does he derive pleasure in making her feel unsettled?" She questioned herself hoping to find a satisfying answer. Ethan had been so glued to his phone, that he barely said a word or looked at Ava's direction. His face straight, eyes sharp and his expression had no trace of concern. He seemed so calm as if nothing had happened earlier before they left home. She had been so lost looking outside through the window. Thoughts continuously racing through her mind, she couldn't wait to get to wherever it was they were going to. Ava got off the private jet and onto the tarmac of the Amalfi Coast. It was night… Everything around exhumed so much wealth and taste” she thought in awe. But she felt a chill run through her as Ethan's hand wrapped around her elbow. As they walked at a steady pace to their luxury villa, Ava couldn't help but wonder what the next few days would bring. “This is our honeymoon suite" he said, his voice low and smooth. Ava's eyes shot wide open, she thought it was some kind of business trip that required their appearance as a couple. But a HONEYMOON!!! there was a lot to take in at the moment. “You don't intend on saying anything?" Ethan's question brought her back to reality. “It's beautiful," she remarked with a quiet, tender voice. “You like it ?" He asked with a low tone. “Yes I do, " she replied with a smile. As they made their way upstairs, Ava couldn't help but admire the Italian architecture. The villa was indeed a masterpiece. The crystal chandeliers gave it a heavenly lightning. Ava's eyes widened at the sight of their bedroom. The large bed neatly dressed in white beddings beside a huge tall glass window. The sight outside was indeed captivating, she fell in love with the surroundings instantly. “We are sharing a room," she said , sounding more like a question. “Like couples do" Ethan shot back with a smirk on his lips. “It would've been better if you said nothing at all," she murmured, while looking away. She hurriedly took her shoes off, and changed into her night wear. Ava felt so exhausted all she needed at the moment was a quality sleep. Ethan couldn't help but admire her pretty figure in the night wear, as he emerged from the bathroom. Ava was startled as she turned around only to find Ethan staring. His gaze was fixed, he didn't flinch . He knew Ava felt uneasy as he smiled at her. Ava found the courage to walk away to the bed, she climbed on the bed dragging a duvet over her body. She shut her eyes. Her head crowded with different tho ughts of what could be on the media? How would she cope with the marriage? Questions kept running through her mind as she slowly drifted to sleep.
