David left the safe house early in the afternoon. He needed supplies. Food, medicine, and new burner phones. Xavier told him to be quick and careful. David drove alone in an old gray car. He kept his eyes on the mirrors the whole time.
He parked at the small store on the corner. He went inside and picked up what he needed. The cashier was slow, so David waited patiently. When he came out with the bags, he felt something was wrong. A black SUV sat across the street with its engine running. The windows were dark.
