30  I couldn't see it clearly through the bushes, but it was moving fast.  With water sloshing around my knees, I hurried to the front of the car.  As another deep growl came from within the trees, I frantically told Yazmin to get out of the car.   She didn't hesitate and gasped when she stepped into the cold water for the first time.  Grabbing her hand, I pulled her out of the flooded stream Then a sound in the trees caused us both to focus our attention in that direction.     The noise was like . . .
