Chapter two

Mateo Mendez I stood at the top floor of my empire staring through the full glass window. I was only twenty eight but I had billions in my name. Some may say that I had help from my father but they didn't know what I went through. My phone beeped for the hundredth time and I checked it only to realize it was Gina… again. I quickly blocked her contact and strode out my office. "What time is the meeting?" I asked my male secretary who was taken off guard. "Umm.. Very soon?" He replied unsurely. His eyes darted from me to the empty table behind me and I glared at him. "Get the meeting files from my desk and follow me." I ordered and he ran into my office. I entered my golden elevator, the only elevator in the whole Mendez empire that was for only my use. Me and my personal bodyguard. "Sir but.. Miss Trisha.." My secretary stuttered. I understood what he was trying to say amidst his stutters. "Tell the guards to clear her desk. I don't want to see her in this company again." I simply said as the doors of the elevator closed. *** I shook hands one more time with the investors and waited for them to leave. I decided to get some coffee while I was at it. I chose the small cafe for the meeting because I already planned to buy the company close to it. So I was monitoring my newest catch from far away. "Sir," my closest bodyguard called and I raised my eyebrow, " Mr Mendez senior is back." He informed me and I rolled my eyes. "Just make sure he's nowhere close to me." I ordered and he gave me a swift nod. My other guard brought my coffee to me and I took a sip and decided to leave the cafe. As soon as I stepped out, my body collided with that of an animal.. Or a human.. I don't care. I took quick steps backwards to avoid any of the contents of my cup touching my suit. "Fuck." I swore as one of my guards stood in front of me and took the cup from my hands. I waved him off and glared at the tiny girl that bumped into me. She bounced on her toes as almost the entirety of the cup ended up on her white tee shirt. Serves her right.. "You could've been more careful." I heard a tiny voice say. The audacity… I took off my shades ready to give the girl whom I collided with a piece of my mind. "Sir, Trisha is causing a commotion at the company." Ace, my closest guard, whispered. I sighed and gave the girl in front of me one last glance. I smirked when I saw the fear in her eyes, perfect.. I loved the impact I had on people. She was pretty alright but definitely not my type. My car pulled up almost immediately and I left the girl behind and faced my phone. *** Immediately I entered my company, Trisha ran towards me with the speed of light but my guards stood in front of me before she could come any closer. "Sir, please don't do this to me. The school called, and my son was admitted to the hospital this morning. I had to leave quickly sir." I watched her beg me and I couldn't help but feel disgusted. Her hair was all over the place and tears were running down her face. "Trisha." I started and she looked at me with hopeful eyes.. Pitiful.. "You are in no way a doctor and your husband has nothing to do. Last I checked, I still don't see the reason why you should leave your duty and head off to the hospital like you own the place." I spat and I watched as the hope in her eyes deflated. "Sir." She choked out as I rolled my eyes. My phone rang and I saw it was my mother calling. "Get her off this premises" I gritted and answered my phone. The security carried Trisha out of my company, restoring the sanity. **** "Why did you want to see me, mother?" I asked as my mother scanned the menu. I leaned against my seat nonchalantly waiting for her to break. Her hands shook a little as she held onto the menu. My phone rang and I was about to answer Ace's call when a voice stopped me in my tracks. "Let's eat, shall we?" Too late Ace… I glared at the man in front of me as he sat directly opposite to me. "Let's go straight to the point. I'm a busy man." I spat and my father glared at me. At this point, I didn't give a damn about his glares or anything he did. "Mr Gates called." My father said and I narrowed my eyes. Mr Gates.. The one businessman who did care if he sold his soul for money. "The fucker claims he has some files against THAT business." he emphasized and I understood. My mother winced at his words but said nothing. "And what does the file contain?" I asked, leaning on the table. The restaurant was empty but I didn't want a single word out. "Mr Gates was a crucial hand that time so those files can contain anything. We can't act out because that man is crazy." My father said in a relaxed tone and he scanned the menu. "And what do you say we do?" I asked impatiently and my father smirked. "He brought forward a proposal, an interesting one." This should not be good… "It's a marriage proposal to his daughter. His company is going bankrupt so he is holding onto thin threads." He added. Marriage proposal?!! What are these old men up to? Marriage is not in any way in my books. "This is not an option. The marriage is in six days." He said. "Six days?! What the f**k?!" I shouted angrily. My mother looked at me in fear as she tried to calm me. "I'm NOT going through with this!" I yelled. "This is not a f*****g Cinderella story. Get married to her, find those files and divorce the girl." He stated as if it was the easiest thing in the world, "Let's order" he said to my mother so casually making my blood boil. I stormed out of the restaurant in anger. Just when I thought I was through with the man I called my father, something else comes biting me in the ass. I knew I didn't have a choice. My father was right, I needed to get my hands on those files. Hopefully whoever the snobbish b***h was, she won't be in support of this marriage.
