18 I could have gone back home. But I couldn’t do it to her. Not yet. Maybe in a few minutes. I can still hear the faint sound of the radio from behind the door. I’m not sure if she knows I’ve been sitting outside for the past half hour, staring at the wire tied around the banister, leading to the door handle. I think it’ll hold. It should.
