The next day, Judy was working on some files in her office. Someone knocked on her door. " come in," she said without taking away her eyes from the files. "Sorry, if I disturbed you?" She heard a new voice. Judy lifted her head and saw a person. She couldn't recognize that person. But she got up from her chair for respect as that person seemed to be a little older than her. "I think we haven't met yet in our company. I want to introduce myself officially," he said politely. Judy came face to face with him and stood silently. "Hi, I'm Martin, assistant of a former marketing manager. It's nice to meet you. We didn't get a chance to meet each other as I was on medical leave," he said and gave his hand for a handshake. "Hello sir, I'm Judy Brown, the new marketing head," Judy said and gave a polite smile. "You look very young. You have got a high post at such a young age. That's wonderful," he said with a smile but Judy sensed something is wrong with that person. "Thank you, sir. I hope guidance from a talented senior employee like you in the future," she said politely. "Come on, you deserve this job. If I was able to attend the interview, of course, I would have been selected as the new head of our department. But it's okay, you seem very talented like me. So, I have no regrets," he said. Judy didn't say anything but she stood silently. She was trying to understand the meaning of his words. "By the way, I heard from my colleagues that you asked about some files of our last year's clients. Why do you need them?" Did he ask with a frown? "I just wanted to learn something about those projects, so I can be more efficient," Judy said calmly. "But those files that you asked for our high-profile clients. I prepared and audited the works. You won't understand them easily. If you don't mind, see some other small projects' files," he said in a mocking tone. "I agree that I don't understand some of them, but I think you are a kind person to help me to understand them, sir," she said. "Of course, I will do my part. Anyway, I wish you all the best, let's five our best for our company," he said. "See you later, sir," she said and he too left her office. She didn't want to think too much about him, as she knew herself very well. There was a meeting for the marketing department scheduled in the evening with the president. So, all were assembled in the conference room. As the head of the department, Judy was telling, Michal what arrangements should be done before the president come to meet. Martin came as the last person to the meeting. Judy noticed it and felt something fishy regarding his behavior. She called Michal to a corner of the room and told, " Michal keep your eyes on Mr. Martin. He behaves very strangely." Michal just nodded her head. All we were waiting for is the president, but only Roy came inside. "Sorry guys, sorry for the delay. You can start the meeting, Mr. President will join us later," he said and occupied the seat opposite Judy. Judy felt a little bit disappointed as she expected to see if he is fine now. Roy also didn't miss the expression on her face. "Miss. Brown, you can start the meeting," he said. Judy who was in her world came out of the trance and nodded her head. The meeting was going smoothly. "For the last topic of this meeting, I want to talk about some of last year's projects. When I went through those files, I came to know that many details were changed and many data were destroyed. I want to take this to the notice of Mr. President," she said boldly. "What! How is that possible? Who did this cheating? Is there any spy in our department? Why didn't anyone notices that?" For a few seconds, the room was filled with murders. "Okay guys, please keep quiet," Roy said finally and stood up. All of them came silently after that. Martin lifted his hand and said, "Sir, I have something to tell." "Go ahead, Mr. Martin," Roy said. "Sir, we have been working together for a long time. We have never encountered a problem like this in the past. But, a newcomer is doubting our sincerity now. This is disrespectful to us," he said. Roy looked at Judy waiting for her reply. "Sir, I have evidence for that," she took a file and gave it to Roy. "What do you tell guys?" Roy said and put the file on the table. Martin took it and had a quick look. "Sir, this is something I can't imagine even in my dream. Anyone can create a fake file and blame anyone. As a senior employee of this company, I want to tell you that this evidence is not enough to prove the fraud," he said. "Okay, I will let our president know about it and he will decide what to do next. But one thing is sure. The culprits will be surely punished. " Thank you, sir, I think Mr. Brown felt insecure about me. She might have thought that I will take over her post and she will be unemployed. That's why she is trying to frame me as she knew that I played the main role in those projects," he said and looked at Judy. Judy was about to tell something, but someone interrupted her. "No one has to feel insecure if they are enough talented for their jobs," they heard a dominating voice. The door was opened and John marched inside like a lion. Everyone stood up from their chair and greeted him together. "Good evening, Mr.President," He took his seat and looked at the crowd in front of him. "Me. President, it's been...." Mr. Martin was about to talk to John but John interrupted him. "Miss Brown, what's the problem?" He asked. No one except Roy didn't expect this including Judy. Judy narrated the problem to John briefly. "Miss. Brown do you have enough evidence to prove your statement? John asked her. " I submitted some files, but I think it's not enough," she said. "Okay, I will give you one week. You should prove your statement," John said. "And you guys have one week to prove her wrong," he said. "Mr. President, what are you going to do if we proved her wrong?" Mr. Martin asked. "Well, she can't be an employee anymore in our company, if she was wrong. "That's not enough, Mr. President. She should apologize to me in front of everyone," said Martin. All of them focused on Judy. "Sure, whoever doesn't prove their statement should apologize in front of everyone," Judy said. "Then, the meeting is over," Roy said and everyone started to leave the conference room one by one. Mr. Martin came near to Judy and said "all the best madam. Prove it if you can." He smiled fakely and went from there. Judy didn't react and stood silently. She took her files and left the conference room with Michal. In Judy's office "Judy, how are you going to prove yourself? I don't know much about Mr. Martin, but some of our colleagues said they thought that he would be promoted as the next head of the marketing department. His bad luck, he had to take some leave and you were selected for that vacancy. I think he holds some grudge against you. Be careful in handling this issue," Michael said with concern. "I don't know how and what I'm going to do. But I want to try my best," she said. "I trust you. Let's finish our work and leave," Michal said and left the office. Judy closed her office and she too left. In John's office "So, what's next?" Roy asked John. "What? What are you talking about?" Did John ask innocently? "Don't act smart, are you going to take the hero role and save your h****n or what?" Roy asked. "I think she doesn't need my help, she can prove herself," John said. "You seem to know herself more than I imagine," Roy said sarcastically. "I asked some people in our company. He was expected to be promoted to the next head of the marketing department, but Judy got that job at last. So she must be careful. There is a rumor that he tried to molest one of the former employees in his department who tried to expose his dirty deals with our competitors. But she couldn't prove it and had to leave the job for some reasons," Roy said with full of concern. "I don't know, but I just feel it. She is a strong girl," John said. "If he dares to touch her, you know the circumstances well," John said and his eyes turned bloodshot in anger at once. "How protective you are. I never this side of my best friend. I should thank Judy for making this miracle happen," Roy said. "Of course, I should be protective but supportive at the same time. I don't want to make her feel inferior in front of me," John said. Roy just nodded her head and both of them continued their work.
