Inside the sleek interior of her luxury car, Aisha sat trembling with rage. Her phone buzzed. It was Ryuji again.
"What now?" she hissed. "Did you call to laugh at my failed plan again?"
"No," Ryuji's voice was calm, almost pitying. "I called to remind you that Day 4 is over. You have two days left in the week. Do you want to try a third 'seduction' or are you ready to admit defeat?"
Aisha gripped the steering wheel. "I'm not trying anymore for the bet, Ryuji. This is about my ego now. I will conquer that boy. I want him on his knees, begging for my attention. If I have to burn this entire company to the ground to do it, I will."
"So," Ryuji chuckled, "you've officially lost. You're coming home to the family business without finishing the week. I'll let the parents know their runaway daughter is finally returning... defeated."
"You're a monster, Ryuji! Did you only call to mock me?"
"I called to show you the world, Aisha. You've lived in palaces thinking you understood people. You met one man who was a gold-digger, and then you met Arav—a man who is so strict he won't even look at you. What did you learn from your two years of 'freedom' in Japan?"
"I learned that money is everything!" Aisha shouted.
"Then you learned nothing," Ryuji replied sharply. "You haven't even felt True Love. Look at my wife—your sister-in-law. Our marriage wasn't a contract between two families. It was choice. It was mutual respect. Our older brother chose politics and power; I chose business and love. You? You're choosing TRP over humanity. You won't find a partner, Aisha. You'll only find shadows."
He hung up.
In his high-rise office, Ryuji didn't look like a villain. He stepped forward and hugged his manager, a rare smile on his face. "I told you, didn't I? I'd break her arrogance. It took two years, but she's finally coming home."
"You played a dangerous game, Sir," the manager noted. "Allowing her to run this 'Shadow Reality' stream just to prove a point..."
"She needed to see her own reflection in the eyes of an honest man," Ryuji said. "Prepare the wedding details for the suitor our parents chose. It's time she faced reality."
THE KHURANA ANCESTRAL MANSION
Ryuji's video call connected to a grand study. His father, Vikramaditya Khurana, sat behind a mahogany desk.
"Father, Mother," Ryuji greeted. "I'm bringing Aisha back. I've broken her pride."
"Pride?" Vikramaditya's voice was like thunder. "Is that what you call this? Look at this link you sent me!" He gestured to a screen showing the 'Shadow Reality' stream. "My daughter... a Khurana... is using her body and her status to trap a common boy? She's provoking him, begging for attention, all to prove he's 'bad'? Is this the integrity I built this empire on?"
"Husband, please," Aisha's mother whispered in the background. "She's just a child, she made a mistake..."
"A mistake?!" the old man roared. "Invading a man's privacy 24/7 and trying to ruin his life for profit is not a mistake—it's a crime against character! If that boy had touched her, she would have called him a monster. But he stayed a gentleman, and she looks like the villain! If she wants to come back to this house, she will come back in shame. If her ego isn't dead, then I have no daughter!"
He slammed the phone down.
Ryuji sighed, looking at his manager. "The old man is a man of principles. He doesn't realize that in today's world, people with principles are either called crazy or get crushed. But for once... I think he's right."
He looked back at the live feed. Arav was currently setting his alarm for the next morning, his face calm and unbothered by the millions of eyes watching him.
"Is this boy really worth all this trouble?" Ryuji wondered aloud, spinning his pen. "Or is he just another player waiting for the right price? We'll find out when the masks finally come off."
