Chapter 10

Aaron: What? Did you really mean that?

Aaron came over to me that evening

Jessica: They're just taking care of me.

Aaron: I'll take care of you!

Dwayn: I don't think you understand the situation, boy.

Dwayn: I don't know what they want from her and I don't know who they are, but there must be a reason why they are afraid of them in the city.

Dwayn: Jessica's life could be in serious danger and don't think that you alone can protect her against a whole pirate gang.

Aaron sighed.

Aaron: Okay, but I'm staying here too. And I keep my eyes on you!

Dwayn just laughed and shrugged.

I went to the kitchen to prepare something to eat for them while the others took possession of my small apartment.

Shawn disappeared somewhere, James and Aaron were talking, and Dwayn followed me into the kitchen.

Jessica: Captain, will you help me prepare dinner?

He was clearly surprised by my request.

Dwayn: I can't cook at all.

Jessica: Come on, peel some potatoes!

I pointed to the potato basket.

He tentatively reached for one while I sifted the flour for the dough.

I smiled as he held the knife in his hand.

Jessica: Potatoes are not our enemy, we don't want to stab them.

The captain was visibly annoyed by his clumsiness, and the more he tried, the worse he did it.

I couldn't help but laugh when the potatoes ran away and jumped out of his hands.

Jessica: Captain, let me help you.

I reached for him when he suddenly cut his finger with the knife.

Dwayn: Devil and hell! I don't need help!

I gave him a minute to calm down and then took his hand to see if the cut was deep.

Jessica: It should be bandaged.

Dwayn: Don't be kidding, they've even put a sword in my chest!

I made a face at the proud captain, then took his hand and pulled him into the room where I sat him down on the sofa and took out the bandages.

Jessica: Keep it straight.

I tried to position his hand.

It was very disturbing that he kept looking at me while I was dressing his wound.

Jessica: What is it?

Dwayn: I'm just not used to being so...taken care of.

I smiled, then pulled his bandaged finger to my mouth and placed a kiss on the bandage.

Jessica: To heal faster.

I finished preparing dinner alone, and then we tried to get the parrot to talk.

Jessica: His name isn't even Herry, is it?

Dwayn: I have no idea what his name is.

Jessica: Let's ask!

Jessica: What is your name?

I turned to the parrot

Parrot: What is my name.

Jessica: No, what is YOUR name?

Parrot: What is MY name.

We had a good laugh at this and the captain decided.

Dwayn: Okay, then his name will be ‘What’.

Parrot: My name will be ‘What’.

Dwayn: You see, Jessica, he likes it.

Then he turned back to the parrot.

Dwayn: Where's the map?

What: Pretty dress!

Dwayn: Ah, he’s useless. Let's go to bed, we're leaving early tomorrow!

Then we got ready for the night. Since I only had the couch and my bed, I gave the boys blankets and pillows to sleep on.

I went up to my room and soon I heard a knock.

James: Can I come in?

Jessica: Sure James, come in.

James: I wanted to see your room and you before going to bed

He smiled at me kindly

Then he saw my teddy bear on my bed and grabbed it.

I suddenly grabbed it out of his hand to hide it.

Jessica: I know it's a childish thing to sleep with a teddy bear, but this is all I have left from my past.

James: It's not childish at all.

He took the teddy bear out of my hand and started talking in a teddy bear voice.

James: Hi Jessica. It's so good that you've kept me all these years.

James: I'm a very lucky bear to sleep next to you.

He talked in a sweet teddy voice while moving the teddy bear.

I had a good laugh at his kind gesture.

Then James became serious and gently stroked my face with the teddy bear.

James: Does it feel good?

I nodded silently as the soft material touched my face.

Then he put down the teddy bear and his hand replaced it.

James: And this?

He asked as he ran his hand gently over my face, carelessly running towards my neck and chest.

James: And this?

His lips covered every part of my body that his hands had touched before.

I went completely numb from the touch of his lips and I just lay there, motionless.

He grabbed my two arms above my head and pinned me to the bed.

I couldn't have moved if I wanted to, but I didn't want to.

In the meantime, he found the point on my neck that was the most sensitive and only kissed it more and more intensely.

I couldn't stay still anymore, but no matter how hard I tried, the weight of his body weighed down, forcing me into the pleasure.

Then he kissed my ear and I let out a loud moan that I was afraid everyone heard.

I finally managed to free one of my arms, which I used to grab James's head and pull him to me for a deep, passionate kiss.

Then I heard someone coming up the stairs and I quickly sent James away.

It was Aaron.

I opened the door and saw Aaron with blankets in his hand as he dropped the blankets on the floor in front of my door.

Jessica: What are you doing here?

Aaron: I just want to make sure that neither unknown nor familiar pirates get to you.

Then he made himself comfortable on the floor in front of my door

I could only smile at him, how cute.

Then I went to bed.

I couldn't sleep. I tried to think what kind of trouble I could have gotten myself into.

Since I couldn't find any answers, I got up to look around to see if everything was okay with the boys.

I carefully opened the door and stepped over Aaron who was lying on the floor.

Then I looked into the living room where Dwayn and James were sleeping soundly.

They were so good to watch.

Seeing Shawn nowhere, I headed out the door.

Jessica: Shawn, are you here?

I called him quietly.

Then, out of the darkness, he suddenly stepped next to me.

Jessica: What are you doing out here?

Shawn: I'm on guard.

Jessica: You're really worried, aren't you?

He nodded silently.

Jessica: You know, even though you're an assassin, I've never felt safer than when I'm with you. Funny, right?

Shawn: Maybe because… you're important to me.

He took my hand

Jessica: You are also important to me

We hugged each other.

Shawn: It's time for you to go to bed and don't distract me otherwise.

He smiled mischievously.

Jessica: And when are you going to rest?

I asked, but I didn't get an answer as soon as he disappeared into the darkness again.

In the morning I woke up to the sound of Shawn shouting at us from the door.

Shawn: Come quickly! The port is on fire!

We all ran together and rushed down to the port.

Unfortunately, it was too late.

It was not the port that burned, but the Stigmata Diaboli.

And by the time we got there, there was almost nothing left of it. The flames had already gone out.

Dwayn tried to go there, but Shawn held him back.

Dwayn: The people!

Shawn: There's no one there anymore, let's get out of here!

He pulled the captain away from the port.

We returned to the house and began to discuss what to do next, while Dwayn locked himself in my room.

Fortunately, I had an idea.

Jessica: Aaron! You have two ships. The cargo and the passenger. Lend us one.

Aaron: What not! Giving my ship to pirates, are you crazy?

Jessica: Please, we have no choice.

Aaron: I won't give my ship to a treasure hunt.

Aaron: Plus if there was a ship, you would go with them.

Jessica: Aaron, I'll go with them anyway.

Jessica: Only if we had a ship, maybe we would have a little advantage at sea and I shouldn't wait to be killed in the house.

Aaron sighed heavily.

Aaron: Okay, but I'll go with you.

Shawn: Don't you dare trust us with your ship?

Aaron: I dare not trust Jessica to you!

I went up to my room to tell the captain the news.

Jessica: Dwayn, can I come in?

Since there was no answer, I went inside.

Dwayn was lying in my bed with his back to me.

Jessica: Captain, there is a solution. Aaron gives us one of his ships.

Jessica: You can choose which one you want.

Jessica: Then, when we find the treasure, you can buy a new ship from it.

No answer came for a long time, so I sat down on the bed, next to him.

Dwayn: I can't buy a new one instead of people

Jessica: I'm sorry, were there many people on the ship?

Dwayn: Most of them spent the night in the city, but there could have been as many as ten people on it.

I lay next to him and hugged him.

Jessica: I'm sorry, it's my fault. It was my idea for you to sleep at my place.

Dwayn turned to me and looked into my eyes

Dwayn: It's not your fault. You saved our lives. They must have thought we were on the ship too, so they set it on fire.

Jessica: The pirates?

Dwayn nodded.

Dwayn: So thank you for saving our lives.

He kissed my forehead.

Dwayn: And thanks for the ship too, but unfortunately, if it's not armed, we won't do much with it.

Dwayn: They will surely attack us on the way. We don't have enough gold left to buy cannons and gunpowder.

Jessica: I have gold.

I got up from the bed and went to my bag.

Dwayn: What?

The captain also stood up suddenly.

Jessica: I even stole these from my foster father

I showed him the contents of my bag.

The captain's eyes lit up and he hugged me and lifted me off the ground.

Dwayn: That's my girl! A real little thief.

He slowly lowered me back to the floor but still held me tight.

Then his mouth touched mine for a short kiss followed by a much longer one.

Dwayn: I promise I'll pay you back in full if we find the treasure.

The captain ran down the stairs with renewed energy and enthusiasm. Me after.

Dwayn: Get your stuff, we're going to get gunpowder, we should be at sea by now.

Shawn looked at me.

Shawn: What did you do to him?

I just shrugged.

Aaron: Take it easy, Captain! The loan of my ship is subject to conditions.

Dwayn: And what would that be?

Aaron: You protect Jessica even at the cost of your lives!

Dwayn: I will!

Aaron: If you do any damage to the ship, you'll pay it back!

Dwayn: Okay.

Aaron: And I'm going too!

Dwayn: No way!

Aaron: Do you need the ship or not? Do you need the treasure or not?

Shawn: Jessica can't stay here either, we have to leave as soon as possible, you know that Captain.

Dwayn: Devil and Hell! OK! Come! But I'm the captain and you do what I say or I'll throw you into the sea!

Aaron made a disapproving face.

Aaron: Got it.

Dwayn: Got it, huh?

Aaron: Got it Captain

We went to buy the weapons that were necessary for the departure, then loaded them onto Aaron's passenger ship and left the harbor after a few hours.
