Chapter 7

The captain was still healing that day, and then we planned to dock in the nearest town for the next day. Shawn: Are you sure you're strong enough to go ashore? Dwayn: Of course I am. If I have to spend another day in bed I will go crazy. James: You don't have to worry about that, you were never be normal. Dwayn: How funny! I knew we were approaching a small town, but there was a lot of activity on the beach. Jessica: What's going on here? Shawn: They're having a fest. They say goodbye to the summer. Shawn: There will be many tourists and vendors everywhere, and in the evening, there will be a party with music. Jessica: I hope Dwayn is really strong enough to have fun. Shawn: Don't worry, if the meds haven't cured him yet, the rum will fix him. Shawn held out his arm before landing, remembering that my legs were shaking last time. I put my arm around him and we all left the ship. Shawn: James will deal with the mast, let's go to the vendors. He suggested happily and we threw ourselves into the crowd. All kinds of people offered their goods from far and wide. When the smell of meat pie hit me, I stopped without hesitation. Jessica: Do you remember? Shawn: How could I forget the most beautiful day of my life when I saw you? He looked at me with his beautiful eyes and gave me a breathy kiss on my forehead. Shawn: Meat pie, please! As we were munching on the pie and browsing among the vendors, a little girl selling flowers came by and addressed Shawn. Little girl: Sir, would you like to buy a beautiful flower for your wife? I immediately blushed and Shawn smiled. Shawn: Of course I want to! He selected the most beautiful white air rose from the little girl's bouquets. Then he turned to me, smoothed my hair back and pinned the flower in it. Shawn: To my wife. So that you never forget me. Then he pulled me closer to him, kissed my hand, then took my hand and we walked hand in hand through the city. I was both happy and sad that we had to say goodbye to each other soon. Shawn: Would you like to walk up to the rocks? The view of the harbor is beautiful from there. Jessica: Sure, we can go! When we reached it, we sat down on the edge of the rock. The sun warmed us and the wind blew our hair at the same time. We looked at the beautiful harbor in silence for a few minutes, then I asked: Jessica: Do you have dreams Shawn? Shawn: Dreams? What kind of dreams can someone like me have? He said while hugging me and I leaned my head on his shoulder Shawn: I've never been in a relationship, but I really want a family. But I would NEVER ask someone to live this life. Shawn: I could die at any time and go to hell after I die. Almost every city has a blood price on my head and I am very afraid. Jessica: Are you afraid of getting caught? I held his hand and looked deep into his eyes. Shawn: Nope. I'm very afraid because every day I fall more in love with you. Shawn: Maybe if you go back to your city now I'll get over it somehow, but if we spend more time together I won't be able to help myself. The problem was that I somehow felt the same way. I slowly leaned towards him. I breathed a gentle kiss on his lips because I didn't know what to say. Shawn: You don't have to say anything. Shawn: Feelings need time to become decisions. Then we headed towards the shipwright, where James was already waiting for us with the finished mast. Jessica: Were you able to buy a new one? Well, this is fantastic! James: They said we would have to wait a few more days for it to be ready, but I managed to convince him to sell us the piece on display. James: It cost a little extra money, but the captain has enough anyway. James: Let's go down to the shore. James: Shawn, you look for the captain so he doesn't get involved in something stupid! Shawn: You're really worried about him all of a sudden. I almost thought you wanted to be alone with Jessica. James: Look, the assassin has a mind! * The sun had just set on the beach and the late sunlight caressed our skin. We walked in silence for a while and admired the setting sun. Jessica: It's beautiful. I watched the sunset. James: Pretty nice. You are the beautiful one. He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulled me close and smoothed my hair behind my ears. James: The most beautiful I've ever seen. He gave me a gentle kiss on my forehead. James: Shall we go? He grabbed my hand and started running in the beach sand. James: Woah! Do you feel this? The wind of freedom! I was laughing and running with him when he suddenly pulled me down into the sand and descended suspiciously towards me. James: There's nothing I love more than the beach, sunsets and...being with you.. Then he smoothed my hair back, looked deep into my eyes and kissed me gently. (Oh, the kiss that only James can do!) I wanted this moment to never end, but I knew we would have to say goodbye soon. Then he saw something next to me in the sand. James: Shells! This stretch of coast has the most beautiful ones. Then we got up and started collecting shells. James: Look! An abalone! They attribute magical power to it. Jessica: Magic power? James: Protects the wearer and cleanses the evil forces around her. Then he took out his knife and drilled a hole in the shell. He took off the leather strap from his neck and put the shell on it and put it on my neck. James: To always protect you and to always remember me. Jessica: A man like you must be surrounded by women. I mentioned, a little jealously. James: Yes, but the admiration was probably for the fleet commander and not for me. He looked at me with sad eyes and continued: James: I didn't think I had to become a pirate to meet someone I fell in love with on the first day. Blushing, I plunged into my thoughts. (What, James fell in love with me?) He sat me on his lap, hugged me and we watched the sunset together. I felt his silky skin as he caressed mine with his face and showered me with small kisses until the sun went down.. As it got dark, the sounds of fun got louder and louder. We started in the direction of music. By the time we got there, the captain already had a few glasses of rum and he was jokingly chatting with his drinking buddies. When he saw me, he pulled me to him and sat me on his lap. Dwayn: And she's my savior! She stayed by my side all night and nursed me, she loves me so much! He put his hat on my head, nudged it and then smiled. I didn't know what to say in my confusion, but it filled me with happiness that he said it not sarcastically, but proudly. Dwayn: Thanks Ratty! It's a good thing I was sitting, because my legs were shaking from his closeness, as he played with my hair and looked into my eyes. There was nothing but an inch of air between us. Then he gently put my head on his chest and kissed it. Dwayn: You smell good. Like the sea wind. He whispered in my ear. Dwayn: And there's nothing a pirate loves more than a good wind. I was so glad that he couldn't see my face because I felt that I was bright red from his compliments. (Does he love me now? Is that what he said?) But I didn't have time to think, because a happy tune was playing, he jumped up from his seat, took my hand and pulled me to dance. Jessica: I didn't think a pirate could dance so well. I was trying to pick up the rhythm with him. Then he stretched out his arm, I moved away from him a little, then he pulled me close and hugged me from behind. I jumped at the chance to tell him. Jessica: You shouldn't have said that in front of people. Dwayn: What? That you did take care of me?-he asked and held out his arm again. Jessica: Bragging about how much I love you.- I answered when he pulled me close again Dwayn: Why? Don't you love me? Jessica: No! Jessica: I mean, yes. I mean.. Dwayn just laughed at me and pulled me to him with a firm movement. Dwayn: That's good, because I really do too. Then he lifted my head and kissed me gently, while his fingers caressed my neck. As gentle as it was, there was always passion in his kiss. When he took a break I asked: Jessica: You really do … what? Dwayn: Even a blind man sees I've a crush on you, cutie pie. Laughed the captain Jessica: But I want to hear it. He pulled me close again and whispered in my ear: Dwayn: You will hear it when the time comes. We spent the whole night in the city, having fun. We ate, drank and lived as if life never ends. The fun ended with fireworks, which we watched sitting on the beach. The captain laid down on the sand and I rested my head on Shawn's shoulder. James sat on my other side. James: Is it ok? He asked and took my hand. That's how we, four good friends, my family, watched the fireworks and just waited to see what the rising sun had in store for us.
