Chapter 4

2011 Words
That night, everyone went to sleep a little overheated. There were people who couldn't even go down the stairs from the deck, they were so drunk. I couldn't fall asleep quickly. I thought about the duel and how I wished we had met under different circumstances. Their directness, simplicity and strength somehow impresses me. And since I never really had a family, now it felt like I belonged somewhere for a little while. I was trying to fall asleep with these thoughts when I heard footsteps approaching my room. A pot-bellied, bearded, drunken pirate entered my room clutching a bottle of rum. Drunken pirate: We will dock soon and you will be returned to your father. Drunken pirate: But I will not let such a flower go without breaking it off. He stuttered as he approached me. He grabbed my arm and I screamed as I tried to defend myself. When Dwayn kicked the door, took the guy off me with one hand and beat him on the ground for a while, then grabbed his sprawled body and started dragging him towards the deck. I quickly got dressed and hurried after them. All the people were already gathered on board, they did not understand what had happened. James: What happened Jessica? I couldn't answer because the captain was shouting loudly. I have never seen him so irritated, angry and determined. He drew his sword as he roared. Dwayn: Didn't I tell you she can't get hurt? How dare you defy my order? Dwayn: I don't need aberrant, drunken people! He shouted as he forced the man to stand on the edge of the ship with his sword. As the man balanced there, for a moment I felt sorry for what would happen if he fell into the water. Jessica: James, we have to do something! But while James was thinking about what to do, the captain cut off both legs of the man with one movement, who immediately fell into the water. I covered my eyes and turned my head away and James hugged me tight. My whole body trembled at the sight of the cruelty. The captain continued: Dwayn: From here on out, everyone who disobeys my orders will suffer the same fate. Dwayn: And now get out of here. He said still angrily and stormed into his room. Trembling, with fear in my heart, I wondered if I should go after him. He may still be angry and dangerous. He shouldn't have treated that man so cruelly, but he did it for me. Or not at all, he just wanted to set an example? Anyway, I should thank him. I carefully opened the door of his room and asked if I could come in. He stood with a map in his hand, still nervous, but finally nodded in agreement. As if he didn't like that we were in his room, he offered us to go up on the deck. A strong wind blew at the bow of the ship. We stood in silence for a minute when I spoke. Jessica: Thank you. That you saved me. Dwayn: That's a damn captain's job. Jessica: No, that's just what a good captain does. Dwayn: So I'm captain now? Jessica: You are a very good captain. Of course you're not my captain. He turned to face me and looked deep into my eyes. When a sudden gust of wind blew the plaid off my shoulders, which I had put on in my cabin in great haste. The ship was hit by a gust of wind and I lost my balance. He grabbed my waist and smiled kindly: Dwayn: Careful. Then his eyes darkened when he looked at my shoulder. Dwayn: What is this? Jessica: What do you mean? He ran his hand gently over the scars on my shoulder and arm. Jessica: Yes, these are…my foster father… He suddenly turned and punched the edge of the ship and hurried away. It happened so suddenly that he scared me. I picked up the blanket from the ground and hurried after him. The captain stood at the wheel and turned the ship back at high speed. Jessica: What are you doing? Shawn and James ran up to us. Dwayn: The ship won't dock. We'll take you back. James: The crew will riot on the way back. No money or food until they get home. Dwayn: I'll fix it. Suddenly something occurred to me: Jessica: I have a deal * Everyone looked at me in surprise Jessica: Take me to him, bring the money, but promise me to come back for me as soon as it gets dark. Everyone thought about what I said, but the captain was adamant: Dwayn: No! James: It's not a bad idea though. We'll get the money and then go back for her before anything happens. James: It wouldn't even be known that it was us, her father would think she just ran away again. The captain looked at me. Dwayn: Why would you do that? Jessica: (Because I’m madly in love with you and I would do anything for you, you i***t! And why would you take me back? Well, these are just my thoughts.) Jessica: Because if the crew revolts on the way back, I'll be in danger! Dwayn: It's fine. If the wind conditions are favorable, we will dock tomorrow at noon. I nodded satisfied, then started towards my room. So much happened this day, I was tired, although I was very worried about tomorrow. Shawn stepped next to me. Shawn: Shall we talk a little, or are you very tired? Jessica: Sure. I sat on the bed and he sat on the chair across from me. Shawn: I don't want you to get in trouble. He handed me a knife. Shawn: I hope you don't need it, just to be safe. Jessica: Thanks Shawn. I looked at the knife. Jessica: How did you become an assassin? Shawn: Oh, that's an interesting story. Shawn: When I was a child, my best friend and I lived on the street. We were like 7 years old. Shawn: We had to steal the food. But once he was caught and they wanted to kill him. Shawn: Just because of a damn apple! His look became more and more angry. Then he continued: Shawn: To save him I used my only weapon, this knife. Shawn: I saved him, but I killed one of the king's men. I didn't want to, but it worked out that way. Shawn: It's funny, my friend couldn't even look at me after that. And of course they wanted to get me. Shawn: So I jumped on a pirate ship and told my story. They liked it. Shawn: They let me stay with them, they became my family, but from then on they used me to sneak in and kill whoever they wanted dead. Jessica: Do you do it for the money? Shawn: For the money, at that time for the food, for the family, they were the only ones for me, the pirates. But I've only ever hurt the wrong people. Shawn: One day I should have killed someone for their money, which we could have stolen. I didn't, so I was dumped on a desert island. Shawn: Dwayn went there with his crew at the time and took me in. I owe him a debt of gratitude. As I listened, tears flowed from my eyes. I put my hand on his hand comfortingly. Shawn: I hope we can get you back safely. It is not for such a fragile girl to travel with murderers. As soon as he stood up, I also stood up and planted a kiss on his cheek: Shawn: Thanks Shawn. He immediately lowered his head as he blushed. Shawn: Sleep well Jessica. The next morning the cold shook me when I got on board. Not only because of the cooler weather, but because I saw the coast approaching in the distance. James stepped next to me and reassured me that everything will be fine. Then we went to breakfast. We ate in silence, you could cut the tension in the air. There was no one in the dining room but the four of us. Jessica: Maybe we should repeat the plan. James: We'll take you back, we'll bring the money, and when your foster father is satisfied that you're with him, you'll run away from the house and we'll bring you back to the ship. I sighed heavily. It seems so simple, but I'm afraid it won't be. I was watching from the deck how we were approaching land when the captain approached me. Dwayn: We dock slowly. I have to tie you up. Just for looks. My surprise was replaced by my excitement when he came closer, really close and took out the rope. I held out my hands to him and he bound them as gently as it’s possible with the rough ropes. He was so close to me, I could feel his breath on my skin, feel the scent of his body as he leaned towards me. It must have been the most sensual bonding a girl could imagine. Then he whispered in my ear: Dwayn: Everything will be fine Ratty, I'll take care of you, I promise. My body trembled at his words. Interestingly, I completely trusted him, them. I took a deep breath and when the ship docked I started down with the support of James and Shawn. As soon as I reached the land, my legs shook. Shawn: Oh, you already got sea legs? Shawn joked, then picked me up in his arms. Jessica: Don't joke, put me down! Shawn laughed, trying to lighten the mood, then put me on my feet. Shawn: Don't be afraid, everything will be fine, I'll take care of you. He whispered, and I got goosebumps from his sensual voice. Dwayn: Where should we go? And I led them to the house that I never wished to see again in my life. When I saw our house from afar, I stopped for a minute, hesitated. Then James put his hand on my shoulder. James: Everything will be fine. The captain knocked on the door and my foster father opened the door. He must have had a meeting because he immediately ushered us into a separate room. Smith: Oh wonderful, you have brought back my beloved little girl. Smith: I am very grateful to you. It broke my heart when they was stolen from me. The boys looked at each other tellingly. Dwayn: Where's our pay? Smith: Oh, I'll give it to you. When they got their pay, the captain cut the rope from my hand and pushed me a little towards my foster father. Smith hugged me with a face shining with happiness and kissed my face wherever he could. The captain gave me one last confirming look before they all left the apartment without a word. Smith: Now stay here. My guests are still here, but I'm trying to get rid of them. Smith: They can't find out that I kidn*pped you with pirates. Don't say a word or you'll regret it. Then he closed the door behind him. I sat down on the sofa and waited when I saw the many medicines on the small table. (He's a real hypochondriac.) And then I started collecting everything I thought could be useful on the ship, starting with medicines, some food, and even the valuable gold jewelry that was kept in the display case. I carefully put everything in a bag, hoping that the boys would really come back for me. Then my foster father entered. Smith: I sent everyone home, now it's just the two of us. Hearing his words made me shiver. But I tried to pull myself together. Jessica: Can I go up to my room? I want to rest a bit. Smith: Of course my star, you must be tired, take it easy. He hugged me. Smith: You can't even imagine how much I missed you!
