Chapter 45
Back in her office, Margaret calls President Williams.
“Madam President, this is a delightful surprise,” the former President says. “To what do I owe this privilege?”
“I would love your advice about a few things. Could I stop by to see you today? Do you have a few minutes?”
“For the first time in years, I’m relaxing in my garden and have plenty of time. Come join me for a cup of coffee.”
“I’ll see you within the hour.”
Margaret notifies her Secret Service that she needs to meet with President Williams at his house. Because he maintained his home throughout his presidency, they’re familiar with Williams’ property. It was his private escape. The agents contact the team and arrange for transport. Once they arrive, a couple of agents lead Margaret to the garden.
