Erin stirred. She found herself lying in her own bed covered in one of the warm blankets woven by her mother with warm colors and geometric patterns. The light was dim, which was fine for her adjusting eyes. What happened? ‘I think we overdid it,’ Eir sighed. ‘I didn’t think about the bird’s lighter bones and how difficult it would be to heal.’ ‘Oh, yeah. I guess that would be difficult,’ Erin agreed.
