I turned to the direction of the vanity but instead I hit a wall and jumped back with a squeal.
“Brent how many times have I told you that you’ll give me a heart attack if you kepp giving me these jump scares?”
He laughed, the rich sound echoed through the room and forced a laugh out of me too.
“Where are you off to anyway? You're supposed to ve taking the day off.”
“I have a meeting with Maj, I'm going to be her apprentice.”
“How did you manage to convince her?”
I shrugged, I didn’t know either. All I knew was that I was going to help as much as I could to end the suffering I witnessed that day in the auditorium.

He gave a wry grin. The playful side of him was heartwarming, I wanted more.
