48 A Risky Idea

Lionel and Corrine were tied, Lionel didn’t know what to do, all his efforts to free themselves had been in vain the knots they had both were perfectly done, he really had run out of options and the truth is that despite the fact that they weren’t being watched, they would soon get rid of them since they didn’t need them for any purpose. 

While Lionel pondered her thoughts, Corrine had already put her backup plan into action, in her left hand she had a bracelet, but not an ordinary bracelet, a locator bracelet, she only had to lift the stone that adorned her, and inside she would have a button that would give its exact location to his collaborators, of course, they would know that they had to help him quickly because that button is only used in emergency situations, fortunately, Lionel was tied behind Corrine's back and in this way, he couldn’t notice the maneuvers what she did. With a little effort, Corrine managed to push the button and a signal quickly reached the LICB headquarters.

“Hey, check this out”. An official said that he was doing his work practices at the LICB and that he was glued to one of the monitors, monitoring if there were any changes.

"What is it?". Another replied that he was too busy for any trifles that a simple intern had to ask him.

"One of the devices is sending a signal". The intern answered.

"Where does it come from?". Asked his partner.

"From the mountainous areas".

"Insurance is any new agent testing their equipment and doesn’t know what the emergency button is for, nothing happens there". The man who was supervising the intern responded with disdain, but he didn’t want to be negligent and added. "Send the report to the support study, but you can do it after your lunch break". Then he left the room and went to lunch.

Meanwhile, Corrine didn’t understand why they were so late, she left the clear instruction that if she pressed that button an immediate response team would be directly there in less than half an hour, and it had been two hours since she asked for help. However, the night was already falling and apparently, they were going to spend the night at that point, they were surely waiting for instructions, but that saved Corrine and Lionel's neck. She spent the whole night and not a glimpse of her team, it seemed that they hadn’t done anything, it was daylight and the immediate response chief always arrived two hours early.

"What’s this?". The boss responded immediately to her secretary, who paid her overtime out of her own pocket as long as she accompanied him the two hours before starting the workday and thus be more productive.

"It’s a request that was passed by the intern yesterday, on non-urgent matters". His secretary replied, the request was accompanied by a report made in a very mediocre way and was signed by his supervisor, so the boss skipped the irrelevant information and went directly to the graphics and locations of the signal when he saw the point from which it was emitted and the signal code was greatly alarmed.

"I want you to call the entire immediate response team and two assault teams, I want them here in twenty minutes. Whoever can't get here in that time tell him not to bother going back and going through his liquidation". He said really rushed and angry seeing all the time that had passed.

"Anything else sir?". Asked the secretary.

"Yes, contact the supervisor who produced this report and tell him that we will no longer require his services". He was really angry about the handling that the supervisor gave to the matter, that signal was from the director's bracelet and it had been more than fifteen hours since the signal reached the headquarters, which worried him too much since the Odds that she was dead were too high.

"Good to see that they arrived earlier than requested." The boss started talking. "Somewhere in those mountains is the director who sent a help signal fifteen hours ago, we must start from the premise that she is still alive, but if we don’t rush, we won’t know for how much longer, so you will have two helicopters that you will land here”. He said pointing to a point on the map. "

From there two fully armed convoys will be waiting for you so you can equip yourself for the mission, now don't waste any more time". Pointing to the exit he ended up rushing them. "NOW, NOW, NOW!"

In a matter of about ten minutes, thanks to the military-style helicopters, they reached the meeting point in less than ten minutes, it was really a very short trip despite the distance, they had trouble landing because there was no plain that However, the two teams chose to slide on ropes so as not to waste time looking for a suitable place for the helicopters. 

They quickly boarded the convoys and started at full speed, along the way, they were arming, loaded assault weapons, handguns, ankle guns, bulletproof vests, and machine guns were loaded before the arrival of the two teams after five minutes had already reached the meeting point.

"They attack us!". Shouted a man who was walking through the camp. Quickly all the thugs got up and took their weapons, immediately one went to watch Corrine and Lionel and the rest went to guard Elsa, who was the target of the thugs. The assault team members knew that they couldn’t target Corrine under any circumstances and couldn’t deal with her directly, so they would limit themselves to killing enemies as fast as they could. 

Only a few seconds passed, all the kidnappers were ready to receive the attack, they loaded their weapons, aimed the best they could and some of them rode motorcycles to bypass them, the assault teams brought the vehicles right in front of the assailants to get better positioned and in a sudden movement, they removed the blanket from the submachine gun that until then had been hidden from all the kidnappers.

"MACHINE GUN!". All the thugs fell to the ground as fast as they could, but the machine gun swept half of them, including the one who was watching Lionel and Corrine, the assault team didn’t know of Elsa's existence, so they didn’t have to be careful when firing the lethal weapon, however, Elsa was lucky to be tied at ground level, thus, no bullet managed to reach her.

"Mary look!". Lionel said to Corrine, pointing the belt to the kidnapper who was watching them, there he had a hunting knife, which could be the exit of the two of them to their restraints, but they had few options to get it. "I have an idea, I need you to reach that knife with your feet and when you have it, throw it as fast as you can into my hands, without fear of cutting me, but do it carefully anyway". 

Corrine did exactly what Lionel told her, with her toes she managed to loosen the knife from the thug's belt and lift it up with a huge impulse, for a moment Lionel closed his eyes because he thought he would end up being stabbed, but with So lucky that the knife was driven a few inches from the ropes that held his hands without hurting him, then he began to cut the ropes as fast as he could and in a matter of minutes he managed to free himself and untie Corrine, now he had a job too difficult, to go through the bullets and rescue Elsa who was in the middle of the crossfire, an idea suddenly occurred to him, a bit gloomy but perhaps it would be the only option he could get in the middle of the battle and save Elsa once and for all.
