37 THE SUBMISSION

"The boss is dead, he was murdered by that man who owned a bar in the town, the one with the famous wine mixes".

"He has guts, I still don't know what will become of us". Said one of the gang members who had only recently learned of the murder of their boss.

"I don't care who that man is, anyone could have killed the boss, he was very vulnerable". Replied another gang member trying to play down what had just happened.

“The boss wasn’t vulnerable, that man was very smart. I’m sure that we will be his lieutenants, I’ve seen him a couple of times and he’s hungry for power”. Reflected another of the gang members of the group.

"I don’t agree to obey this Larson, we have been in the gang for years, we cannot allow an apparition to become our boss that easily if someone should be our boss is one of us". Said a gang member who was known for his arrogance. "We can't make life easy for Larson, he doesn't know what it's like to work like us".

"Friend, I don't think you should mess with Larson, he killed the boss himself, even the police didn't get that far, even though they had infiltrators in our gang". Another gang member tried to dissuade.

“You’re cowards who will never go beyond being mere pawns, let the shift boss move you as you please. I’m not like that, I do have potential and leadership”.

That gang member was named Jon, from the age of 12 he joined the gang as a messenger for the older gang members, little by little he escalated and at that time he was in charge of a small group in charge of collecting the debtor drug dealer. Jon was feared by them because for each day of default in the debt he gave them 10 fists, even, it was said that he himself had murdered in the most sadistic way a drug dealer who hadn’t paid the debt for a year, Jon opened the stomach of the corpse and filled it with many rocks, before throwing it into a river and thus preventing the body from floating, all the gang members feared him and that pleased the man. The most horrible blow he could have had was the death of the chief, and not precisely because of the sadness of such a fact, but because he had been planning for months how to reach the absolute command and suddenly a foreigner had stolen that possibility. Jon didn’t want to be under the command of Lionel whom he only considered a lucky man who could kill the boss.

"Let's not let an unknown man impose on us, comrades invited you to rebel, let's not follow any of his orders, the next boss must be one of us, someone who knows our history, not an i***t who only wants money at the expense of our work”. Joe was trying to encourage the gang group to come up with a plan to stop Lionel from controlling them.

"I'm not sure Joe, I'm personally afraid of that Larson, I was cooperating in his bar and one day I wanted to have fun with a girl, the man couldn’t bear it and almost killed me". Said one of the gang members who was attacked. by Lionel when they almost destroyed his bar.

"Nonsense, you lacked the courage to unsheathe the gun on his head". Replied Joe.

"I support Joe, I wouldn’t like a fool who doesn’t know how much we have worked for the band to impose his will".

"Come friends, together we can develop a plan and prevent that man from directing us to his whim".

Some men joined the proposal Jon was making, however, one of Lionel's gang friends was at that meeting and didn’t hesitate to alert his friend to the plan that was being hatched against him.

"Larson my brother, can we meet a little later?". Was the message the gang member sent to Lionel. Lionel immediately called him in order to know what might have happened.

"What happened, friend?".

“Now I tell you everything, I don't want anyone to hear what I should tell you. Where we can meet?".

Lionel spent a while thinking about a good place to meet his friend, in the end, he decided that they would meet at the supermarket because the place wasn’t so crowded at that time.

"Brother tell me what's going on, you have me intrigued". Said Lionel.

"Larson, there are some men in the gang who don't want you to be the leader and they’re coming up with a plan to finish you off. Their leader is a very bloodthirsty gang member named Jon".

"That they weren’t happy with the death of their boss". Said Lionel. “Don't worry, friend, I can't stand treacherous ones. Now I’m the boss and they must respect me”.

"What will you do?".

"Convince them in an unorthodox way but very much in my style".

Lionel's friend was very confused because he didn’t know his intentions regarding the small group of insurgents.

"Thanks, friend, for informing me, I’ll reward you".

"Thanks, Larson".

"Today I wait for you all at 9:00 p.m. in this place". Said Lionel pointing to his friend on a map a large lot that was quite far away.

"I already inform you all Larson". Said the gang member as he left to find the other members of the gang.

At 9:00 p.m. all the gang members were gathered in a dark place outside the city waiting for Lionel's arrival.

"Hey Joe, what shall we do?". One of the gang members asked.

"I don't know what this i***t wants with us". Said Jon.

“Gentlemen, as you now know I’m your boss, here I do what I say. Behind my good person face is someone really evil. Does anyone have any questions?”. Lionel said screaming. The gang members looked at each other, but none said a word.

"Now I see that they don't understand me, I’ll have to teach them obedience lessons". Said Lionel.

After that, Lionel chose the group that planned to finish him off.

"You guys, up front, I have a challenge for you".

The men looked at each other with bewilderment, they didn’t know what was going to happen. For his part, Lionel ordered them to walk barefoot through a land full of manure and nails and then swim in a small lake that was very cold at that time, then he would receive them and face each of them.

The selected men set out to make the disgusting and painful journey, except Joe.

"I won't do that". Jon said.

"I'm not asking you for a favor, I'm giving you an order".

"I don't". Jon yelled.

Jon took his pistol and shot Lionel, with such bad luck that he was wearing a bulletproof vest so the impact didn’t hurt him.

"You thought it would be so silly to let me beat you, a failure". Said Lionel.

After that, Lionel snatched the gun from Jon and started hitting him with great fury, the man didn’t expect him to have a bulletproof vest.

"You will never be my boss". Said Jon.

"Well, I am". Said Lionel laughing.

After a few minutes of struggling Jon was very exhausted, he couldn’t even walk because Lionel had hit him in the leg, however, he wasn’t willing to surrender to Lionel, so before he was killed Joe snatched a gun from one of his companions and shot himself, ending his life.

"You see what happens to you if you don't obey me, this man was so cowardly that he couldn't fight me, he better wanted to commit suicide". Said Lionel while looking at Jon's corpse.

"You’re my men, you owe me fidelity now, I’ll not be bad with you if I have your loyalty". Explained Lionel. “You manure guys get out of there. You have learned”. He said to the men who were crossing the field.

After that, he left the place before the gaze of all the gang members who were already convinced of his power and were willing to offer their full loyalty to the new gang leader since they didn’t want to pay a snub with their lives.
