Chapter 4

LIES.

EVE'S POV CONTINUES.

"Where are you coming from?" He growled, his eyes reddened with anger, as he clenched his fists, fury obvious in his orbs, while my ex-best friend, Rita, stood by his side, clinging to him like a lost puppy who just found her master. Her eyes sparkled with malice and gleamed with excitement.

I knew she was happy. I tried not to tremble as Alpha Bryan's angry gaze washed over me.

"I asked, where are you coming from?" He roared heavily, making me stagger backward from shock, my heart racing in fear and my tummy twisting in pain from nervousness.

"Fro..." I stuttered, trying to look for a lie to tell because I obviously couldn't tell the truth.

'How do I tell them I was coming from a bar or that I had a one-night stand with two unknown men?' I pondered, feeling out of breath.

He stepped forward, moving closer to me, leaving Rita behind, who pouted before glaring at me, her teeth seething. I moved backward as he loomed over me, his eyes threatening.

Suddenly he stopped in his tracks and sniffed before rage brewed in his eyes. I was confused, but then it hit me.

"You b***h, whose scent is on you?" He yelled at me, bits of saliva flying out of his mouth onto my face, but I didn't care and just fidgeted with my fingers, cursing myself for being so dumb as not to take a bath before leaving the hotel.

I was just in such a hurry and didn't want the twins to wake up and find me. It would be so embarrassing, knowing I loosely allowed them to touch me.

"No one," I lied, and Rita burst into laughter, pointing at me as she said with giggles.

"Do you know how you look now? Thoroughly messed up". Alpha Bryan clenched his fists, looking like he wanted to punch me at her words.

Rita just added more flames to the already burning fire.

"I will ask again, where are you coming from, you slut?" He cursed, and his words pierced his heart; it was just like my heart was being sneezed.

I shut my eyes from both pain and fear, not knowing what to say or my mouth feeling too heavy to produce words. Suddenly, I felt my hair being grabbed, and I let out a low yelp, feeling like my scalp was on fire due to the way it was being grabbed.

I tried releasing his hand, but he just gripped my hair tighter and used his other free arm to grab both my hands in his before twisting them behind me.

Tears sprang out of my eyes in agony. He turned to his Beta, which I didn't even notice was there. His Beta was just staring at me blankly before he shook his head sideways like he was disappointed.

"PL, please let me explain." I stuttered, but they all ignored me as Alpha Bryan commanded.

"Gather everyone in the Square; someone needs to be punished." His Beta followed his orders immediately while I was dragged out into the presence of everyone.

As soon as people saw me, whispers and murmurs flowed.

"What did this omega do this time?"

"What is going on?

"Did she offend the Alpha?".

Alpha Bryan shoved me to the ground before climbing the stage, while Rita stood next to me, bent to my level, and then whispered into my ear with an evil grin.

"Looks like you are in a bit of trouble, Eve," she leaned in, savoring the moment to enjoy how my face fell and tears started to drip from my eyes.

Just then, I felt her pat my head, her expression turning sorrowful, her face falling. I was confused till she said.

"Oh no! Eve, you shouldn't have done this; you should not have cheated on the Alpha, your mate," she said aloud, making sure everyone heard it, and they did, for they all let out a gasp in amazement.

I gasped from shock, my eyes growing so wide, they almost popped out of their sockets. Did she just twist the truth?

"It is as you heard, my people. Last night, at the festival, I discovered this worthless omega was my mate and decided to follow the moon goddess's will and accept her, but she was not grateful.". He paused, observing people's expressions with acknowledgment as they glared at me in hate and disgust.

"N no, no, he is lying." I tried to speak, but his beta suddenly kicked me in my tummy, making me collapse to the floor and cough out, feeling my throat blocked.

"Keep quiet, betrayal.".

"Today, I discovered she cheated on me." He finished, and people attacked me, cursing me while grabbing things to throw at me.

"You b***h, how dare you be so ungrateful?".

"Just like your parents, you deserve to die.".

"So unfortunate, you dare make a fool out of our Alpha.".

As rotten foods fell on me, sticks and stones hit me on my forehead, bruising me...I was kicked from left to right like some sort of ball and would have been beaten to death if Alpha Bryan hadn't stopped them.

I coughed out blood, feeling my entire body ache from pain. I cried, feeling helpless and sad; no one believed me. It wasn't my fault; I wasn't in my right senses.

The Alpha never accepted me; he rejected me. I thought, wishing someone would just stop to listen to me, but they all left after spitting on me with a bale.

Rita moved closer to me, bent to my face before laughing manically, obviously enjoying my discomfort. It was just like a knife was being twisted into my guts, as I still couldn't believe she was once my friend.

"If you knew what was good for you, you would leave this realm and never return." She commented with disgust and then left without a backward glance.

I lay there and decided to follow her advice, but I wondered where I would live. I had no one else now but myself.

"Are you alright?" I suddenly heard a familiar voice and froze.

'What was he doing here?'.
