The calm morning air provided a refreshing start to the day as Derek and I arrived at Davin and Davina's school. It was a routine I had grown accustomed to, dropping off my children with their bags and packed lunches in tow.
Derek happened to follow me here today because he and I agreed to meet this morning.
I handed each of them their belongings and leaned down to peck them each on the cheek. "Be good, my darlings," I said with a tender smile.
Davina, always the responsible one, nodded with determination and replied, "Don't worry, Mom. We'll be good."
Davin, ever the spirited one, giggled and chimed in, "We promise, Mommy!"
