As we exited the car and entered the Royal Palace, I couldn't shake off the unease that lingered in me. Derek's absence weighed heavy on my mind, his unusual decision to send a driver instead of coming himself gnawing at my thoughts. Something felt amiss, and I had a lot of questions and lingering doubts.
It was very weird that he had left the hospital as soon as Caleb arrived, and the fact that he never came back, or called to check on me and the kids after that, made me feel quite strange and concerned.
