Confusion and annoyance danced in my eyes as I stared at Caleb, desperately trying to comprehend the unsettling situation that had unfolded before me. The fact that he had saved Davina meant that he already knew I had children. But what I couldn't understand was how he had known Davina was in trouble, and why he didn't show himself much sooner.
I desperately wanted to ask questions, however, I knew that creating a scene in front of Davina would only further complicate matters. Taking a deep breath, I fought back my frustration and turned my attention to my daughter.
"What about Davin, sweetheart, is he okay?" I asked, my voice gentle as I tried to discern any signs of distress on her face.
A small sigh of relief escaped Davina's lips as she nodded. "Yes, Mommy, he's okay.
