As Lycia and my father left my office, I sat alone, mulling over our conversation, and I couldn't shake off the guilt that washed over me.
Lycia overhearing my conversation with my father wasn't something that I expected would happen, and I regretted the hurtful words he had said to her, especially regarding her not having a male child. I could tell by the look on her face when my father was speaking, that she was hurt and annoyed, and I needed to find a way to pacify her.
I wanted to tell her that it wasn't her fault and that she had nothing to worry about because I would never blame her for the fact that we didn't have a son.
