The Unwanted Visitor

Pulling up at the palace Dex was there to greet me all smiles I’m talking about all 32, I chuckle he’s such a goofball.

“Hey Rayven, did you get some good sleep this rising, mommy said she worried about you being too tired.” Dex says in a baby voice clearly mocking me while wiping his eyes like a baby would when their sleepy. Dex is 6’3 with dark chocolate skin and toned muscles his hair was always kept short in a low fade he had a permanent indent across his cranium from him tying his durag tight depriving his brain of the much-needed oxygen it so desperately required. Dex seems like your typical rock-solid beta, but he’s so much more than that he’s also a hybrid that’s how he’s able to train me in both fields combat and magical abilities. He’s a Lycan and a witch hybrid he’s actually quite talented #12 in combat in the nation and I know that might not seem like a good number, but he competes with alphas as well. My beta beat out all the betas the only people who beat him were me of course and 11 other alphas. What number am I you ask, I don’t like to brag but #1 In the nation there’s no male stronger than me in my area hence my reluctance to choose a chosen mate, I know the goddess is pairing me with someone special I just have to be patient.

“As a matter of fact, I did, but she only saved your ass. I mean the score is what 15-4 now.” I retort full of confidence while examining my perfectly manicured hand. Dex has only beaten me 4 times and all of those times were before I turned 13, and I see that as positive considering Dex was the same age as me when he started to train me he like most boys adapted quicker and it took me a minute to grow into my body and gain some muscle being a woman and all. My elemental powers didn’t come in until I turned 16 which is part of the reason, I’m having some trouble controlling them, they are quite new to me and I don’t quite understand the flow of my energy and its depth of my raw power.

Dex grabs me and puts me in one of those loose big brother headlocks. Dex has always been the son my father wanted but never had. It didn’t help that our fathers were best friends and had pups at the same time. I was destined to be alpha, and Dex was destined to be my beta, my right-hand man. Then Dex was born 5 minutes and 42 seconds before me, so he likes to think of himself as the “bigger sibling” as far as brothers goes he is all I have and is the best.

“Okay get off before you mess up my hair and wrinkle my blazer dickhead” I say dragging his heavy arm off from around my neck being careful not to mess up my hair. I straighten myself up and Dex starts to lead me to my office. I check my watch on my wrist it says 12:50 pm

“Language Ray I swear you have a potty mouth make sure you keep your cool we don’t need the palace to crumble apart. Anyway, Jake is in the lobby already waiting for you” Dex says as he rolls his eyes clearly just as annoyed with the Future Alpha of Shadow Peak as I am.

“Trust me nobody wants him here less than me, ever since dad died, he’s been here proposing marriage trying to establish the peace treaty with our kingdoms like dad was trying to do.” I say frustratingly

Yeah, that’s right Jake is from Shadow Peak, the one where my father was headed to, to establish peace but was murdered by a mysterious poison, he was so obviously specifically targeted in all of history nobody has ever died or even much less seen or heard of the mysterious poison that killed my father. Jake has been adamant about us getting married to establish peace since his father is retiring and mine is dead, he thinks he can push up on my territory and combine packs. Psssshhhh…... as if, the Crimson Hyde, the number one pack in the world would merge with Shadow peak the shadiest pack in all of existence. If jake thinks that I think that his pack had nothing to do with my dad’s murder or the unknown poison he has another thing coming.

I sit behind my desk and look around admiring the green decor. If you can’t tell by now my favorite color of all time is green, I think it has to do with my Earth elemental attributes being in Nature and being surrounded by it is so relaxing. This office used to belong to my father so it’s not a lot of redecorating I had to do as he has exceptional taste, I just added some of my girly touches to it.

“Bring him in” I tell Dex

A couple of minutes later …

Knock, knock, knock...

“Come In”

“Well would you just look at my fiancé, mmm, just as pretty as the day I first saw you” jake says with lust hazing in his eyes as he is looking at me.

I visibly shake clearly disgusted by his s****l advances, I put my hand over my mouth trying to keep down the coffee and donut I just had.

“Do not call me that we are not now or ever getting married, now, Jake what do you want hurry and state your business because if that’s all you came to talk about you can go ahead and get up and get out of my office and off of my territory.” I demand as I hate idle conversation, especially with someone as greasy and slimy as he is. I have better things I could be doing

He puts his hand over his heart feigning hurt.

“Rayven, you know just like I do you need help running this kingdom a cute little girl like yourself can break a nail or end up with wrinkles trying to run a kingdom. We also both know that since you’re a hybrid you probably won’t have a mate out there.”

Ember growls inside my head “Not true, mate out there, feel mate.”

The office starts to shake like an earthquake happening in the room. Jake is startled and falls into the chair next to the desk. I take deep breaths and calm down, Dex walks into the office and looks at me panicked that I flew off the handles again.

“You guys, okay? There was a small earthquake.” Dex gives me a pointed look, the palace knows my mother and I are blessed by Venus, and they are so loyal to us and the throne they keep the secret as they know we do not wish to be public with it. Especially after the Venus purge, People were specifically targeting those blessed by Venus claiming their powers as their own. Once you mate with someone who has been blessed you gain some of their attributes as well.

“Yes, we are fine thank-you for checking on us Dex.” I say with a calm tone of voice trying to keep myself as cool as possible before I crumble the whole palace to the ground.

Reel it in kiddo... I hear Dex say in my head
