take off my clothes and put the mask over my eyes careful to not mess up my hair.
“Blindfold is on what do you want me to do, stumble around in the dark.” I scream to the 2 people who want me blindfolded so much today.
“Calm down grumpy I just wanted to make sure you can’t see your dress yet. You know you hate the way they look when they are on the hanger and I didn’t bring a mannequin. This dress is made to fit you perfectly. Momma may have me your measurements already.” Lay says as she helps me into the dress I feel it hugging my body already. It’s sliding on perfectly I help my left arm into the one shoulder sleeve I drew, good first 2 items checked off the worry list.
She helps guide me out of the room and I can feel the corset being laced In the back, no zipper, good another item checked off. I can feel and hear my mom shuffling around me straightening out the bottom part of my dress and it feels long just like I wanted. I’m actually getting excited about seeing it now. I smile to myself inwardly.
“Okay Ray are you ready?” Lay says
“Yes, let’s see what has been done.” I say failing to hide the slight excitement in my voice.
The sleep mask is carefully removed from my eyes and off from around my head. I blink a couple times as the mirror lights are really bright, it takes a minute for my eyes to adjust from darkness to Florissant lighting. When my eyes finally adjust I’m truly blown away from what I’m seeing. It’s Gorgeous evening gown with a A-Line one shoulder neckline court train, with a satin chiffon corset with a high thigh split on the left side so I can show my leg off as well. Best of all it is a olive green, there is gold trim in the corset as well as the one shoulder neckline. There is gold glitter on the dress as well not to much to be overpowering but just enough to where every step I take I will twinkle under the moonlight. I’m truly in love with this dress I wouldn’t alter it in any way.
“So what do you think?” My mom asks me, lay is in the back biting on her fingernails clearly nervous about what I’m about to say.
“I love it, I absolutely adore it. This is one of the most beautiful dresses I’ve even seen in my life. This can’t be my design.” I say as I twirl around admiring the dress.
“It’s is though Ray, mama may sent it to me she told me how you stoped believing in your designs. I thought it was silly at the time when she said it but I see it’s true. You have a gift Rayven and I’m not talking about you being queen or your powers. Your also a great designer and you shouldn’t put your life on hold to be queen you should be able to do both at the same time.” Lay says looking at me with pride.
“I love the dress as is, good call taking the other ones out. This was just the confidence pick me up I needed. I’m going to get back to it.” I say, but I know that designing is the furthest thing from my mind right now. I still have things I need to do and people to see, Adrian’s smile flashes though my mind. My cheeks start to get hot and Lay and my mother notice, luckily before they get the chance to question me my stomach growls so loud it stops them in their tracks.
“Okay she saw and tried the dress on and she loves it, I guess it’s time to get her something to eat.” My mom says, I over-dramatically throw my hand up over my forehead and clutch my stomach like I’m going to faint. They both help me out the dress and I quickly hop back into my clothes careful to not mess up my hair or reveal the phone that Adrian made for me.
We go and grab some food and head back to the house. LayLay is going to stay the night with me tonight and tomorrow night but she has to leave in the early morning of my birthday and the ball. It’s okay with me I have her all to myself tonight and tomorrow. As soon as we get out of viper lay starts smelling the air hard, she says she smells a summer spring and pine needles. I sniff the air and I get nothing but the food we have in our arms right now, I shrug my shoulders and make my way towards the front door before I get chance to open it Dex slams the door open. He is looking like an absolute lunatic right now I know he missed her but dang, at least let the girl get inside first.
“Hey Lyana, your beautiful today, I mean your beautiful everyday, well I am sure your beautiful everyday, I know I haven’t seen you in a long time but I’m sure your beautiful everyday, hey Lyana.” Dex stumbles over his words like a love-struck fool.
“Hello Dex, thank you.” LayLay says as she blushes and tucks a piece of hair behind her ear.
I walk up to Dex who’s standing at the door like a cardboard cut out in-front of a comic bookstore, I pat him on the shoulder as I pass through the door and lean in close to his ear.
“Smooth buddy, real smooth.” I whisper in his ear he chuckles and rubs the back of his neck awkwardly
I don’t know why I did that Zelous is acting weird all of a sudden. Dex mind-links me.
Well next time you might want to articulate an actual sentence. Ha, just relax and be yourself I’m sure you got this. You’ve had a crush on her for forever now, don’t start acting weird now. I mind-link him back.
Lyana smiles and looks and Dex again before coming into the house slightly brushing up against him chest as she goes through the door. Dex shivers from the touch, you could have sworn she just licked all over his chest the way he’s acting.
My mom walks up to Dex and sighs she places her hand on his shoulder.
“Your beautiful everyday.” She says to him and all except for Dex start laughing. Dex looks straight at me seemingly already understanding what happened.
“She snuck 2 more glasses of champagne when I wasn’t looking, I made sure she didn’t get like this blame this one here.” I jam my thumb towards Lyana.
“We were having a good time and shes not a child and I haven’t seen her in forever so sue me for having some drinks with mom.” LayLay says
Dex smiles at Lay and proceeds to pick mom up and take her to her room to lay her down because she is most definitely drunk and down for the count. Dex walks back downstairs to see me and Lay going crazy on the food talking and catching up. Lay pulls another bottle of champagne from her bag and pops the cork. We hear mom “who-hoo” from upstairs but don’t hear any footsteps, we all laugh.
“So how have you been since you left?” Dex asks lay
Lay begins to tell us all about the human world and how they interact with each other. They still don’t know about us well, they have heard of us and some believe in us but most don’t. We all chatted for hours on end before I got sleepy and excused myself. There are plenty of rooms in this house so there’s no need to show them to their respective places, Dex can show Lyana where to go but I’m about to go to bed I wrapped my hair how Enrique showed me to help keep it straight, take a shower and lay it down I am out in record time exhausted from everything that has happened to me today.
