Chapter Five
Gabriella's Pov
The guard led me through the grand corridors, a blur of rich tapestries and polished stone. My mind was still reeling from King Gene's announcement.
Breeder. All four Alphas. Me. It was a terrifying, inescapable reality.
He stopped before a heavy, carved wooden door. "This is your room, Miss Colton," he stated, his voice flat. "You will find a list of the Pack's etiquette inside. Study it. You are to prepare to meet the four Alphas immediately." He gave a curt nod and walked away.
Immediately? My heart hammered. No time to breathe.
I pushed the door open. The room was enormous, luxurious, but I barely registered it. On a dressing table, a thick scroll lay unfurled:
Shadowdark Pack Etiquette for the Chosen Breeder.
I didn't even glance at it. My stomach was a knot of pure dread.
Before I could even take a proper breath, another guard appeared at my door. "Miss Colton, the Alphas are ready to receive you."
My legs felt like lead, but I forced myself to move. This was it. The moment I had been dreading, yet also, in a strange, desperate way, longed for. To face my fate.
He led me to an even grander hall, one I hadn't seen before. The air here was charged, thick with power. Four imposing figures stood at the far end, their backs to a massive fireplace, casting long shadows. My breath hitched.
As I walked closer, they turned.
My eyes immediately locked onto the first. He was tall, with silvery long hair that fell to his shoulders, and eyes so blue they were almost electric. His face was sharp, handsome, but held a cold, almost cruel intensity. Leo. My wolf whimpered, a strange mix of fear and undeniable pull.
Next to him, the sandy-haired man with kind blue eyes. Tristan. The one from the medical wing, the one who had asked if I was alright. His gaze was warm, a gentle smile playing on his lips, but there was a fierce possessiveness in his eyes now.
Then, the dark-haired man with the mischievous glint. Rhael. The fake doctor who had humiliated me. His smirk was still there, but it was softer, and his jet-black hair framed a face that now held a surprising depth of emotion as he looked at me.
And finally, the polite, chocolate-brown eyed man. Mark. The one who had called me clumsy. He was smiling, a wide, boyish grin, but his eyes, too, held an intense, undeniable claim.
They were all here. All four. And as their gazes swept over me, a powerful, invisible force seemed to pull me towards them. It wasn't just fear anymore. It was something primal, something deep within my very being that recognized... them.
Leo, the cold one, was the first to speak, his voice a low rumble that vibrated through the room. "So, the little Breeder has arrived." His words were harsh, but his eyes, those eccentric blue eyes, held a flicker of something else, something that contradicted his tone.
Tristan stepped forward, his gentle smile widening. "Welcome, Gabriella. We've been... waiting for you." His voice was soft, but the intensity in his gaze was overwhelming.
Rhael pushed off the fireplace, a playful glint in his eyes, but his voice was surprisingly serious. "You certainly know how to make an entrance, little mate."
Mate? The word hit me, a shockwave through my system. They knew. They all knew.
Mark, ever the playful one, bounced on the balls of his feet, his chocolate-brown eyes sparkling. "It's about time! We've been feeling you for days!"
My head spun. Feeling me? They were talking about the mate bond. They had recognized it. And their eyes, all four of them, held a fierce, undeniable love, a possessiveness that both terrified and strangely thrilled me.
Leo, the cold Alpha, took a step forward, his gaze burning into mine. "You are ours, Gabriella. And we... we already love you."
The words hung in the air, a powerful, inescapable truth. My breath caught in my throat. Four Alphas. Four mates. Four loves. And they already knew.
My world, already turned upside down, now spun completely out of control. I was no longer just a Breeder. I was their mate. And their love, fierce and demanding, was already claiming me.
"Love?" I managed to stammer, my voice barely a whisper, my mind struggling to grasp the enormity of it.
"But... I don't even know you." The words felt weak, pathetic, against the sheer force of their presence.
Rhael chuckled, a low, rumbling sound that sent shivers down my spine. "Oh, you will, little mate. You will. The bond doesn't care if you know our favorite color yet."
Tristan's gaze softened, but the possessiveness in his eyes remained. "It's an instinct, Gabriella. A truth. We felt you the moment you stepped onto our lands. And now that you're here... it's overwhelming."
Mark, the playful one, took a step closer, his smile gentle. "Don't worry, we'll make sure you feel it too. Soon."
Leo, however, remained stoic, his electric blue eyes never leaving mine. "There is no escaping it, Gabriella. You are ours. And we will protect you, cherish you, and claim you, as is our right”
Before I could even process the enormity of it, before I could speak, or scream, or run, all four of them moved. A synchronized, powerful surge of Alpha energy. They closed the distance between us in a heartbeat, surrounding me, their bodies pressing in, their scents overwhelming.
And then, all at once, their hands reached for me.
I flinched, a gasp tearing from my throat, bracing for a rough, forceful touch. But it wasn't. Leo's hand, surprisingly gentle despite its size, cupped my jaw, his thumb stroking my cheekbone.
Tristan's fingers laced through mine, a warm, comforting grip that still held an undeniable strength. Rhael's hand settled on the small of my back, a possessive weight that sent a shiver through me, while Mark's other hand found my waist, pulling me subtly closer to his side.
I was surrounded, enveloped by their heat, their scents, their sheer Alpha power. My human mind screamed,
Too much! Too fast! But my wolf, now fully awake and roaring, pulsed with a fierce, joyous recognition. It was a dizzying, terrifying, exhilarating sensation.
"Ours," Leo murmured, his voice a low growl that vibrated through my chest, his electric blue eyes burning into mine. "Finally ours."
